    Hey guys,

I am currently trying to find a new entry level financial advisor/consultant level job.

I currently have my 7, life and health, and close to halfway studying point for my 66 (on top of real estate license and notary license, but those are unrelated).

I have had an interview at Fidelity, didn't get the job. I also had another one, still waiting on a reply.

I have had little to no success applying online for jobs and got those two interviews thanks to some help from a connection.

I have stumbled upon some emails of hiring managers at Bank of America and Merrill Lynch and would like to email them about some openings. They may not see or answer my email, but why not give it a shot? Worst thing is I waste some time right? Or what is a bad case scenario?

I do need help writing a convincing email though. Does anyone have any specific tips on what I should say or how I should structure this email?

I am highly motivated and a very persistent person, but I feel like not going to a top target school has made it difficult for me to break into this field.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

/r/FinancialCareers would be a good option to go to for this, i browse there sometimes because I'm somewhat interested in working in the finance industry but not sure

Tbh I think sending a cover letter to bigger companies like that is pretty difficult especially if they have schemes already in place. Btw I’m not telling you not to send the email but it should be spectacular because the likelihood of them getting those kinds of emails day in day out is high.

I would look at some smaller companies where it is easier to contact the hiring manager or person in charge of hiring - send out speculative emails.

Best thing: your experience, why you want to work for them, what you know about them and what you can bring to the company.

After my first internship I was looking for jobs in marketing / think tanks etc but I decided the best way would be to send out directly to people.

I got a bunch of replies, some said no positions some replied positively but by the time a lot of them replied I had already had stuff lined up.

you seem to be in a difficult spot. Make sure your resume is good ( when applying online you have to include key words from the job description to get a reply) and work on your interview skills. Randomly emailing hiring managers seems like a long shot but good luck
