Am I the only one who thinks Toosie Slide wasn't supposed to be a dance song? The dance he describes is supposed to be the moonwalk, but Toosie took it and created a dance with it. Then Drake obviously pushed that after.

Toosie was sent the song early to make a dance to it. Hence the name but I believe mj was an inspiration for it. He probably asked Toosie to make a dance for it because not everyone can do the moonwalk

I don't think he necessarily wrote the song with the idea being to create a Tik Tok-friendly hit, but that was definitely part of the marketing once it was made. A lot of people overlooked references to MJ and street s*** and just assumed it was a blatant attempt to start a dance trend. That kinda annoys me because I think it's a genuinely great song, but some people can't look past what they perceive to be Drake "selling out".
Outstanding article (aside from writing Best I Never Had instead of Best I Ever Had, I'm sure it was a typo though lol).
Do you think Drake and his team have carefully executed every aspect of his marketing strategy or do you think it's unfolded that way organically and they've been clever enough to capitalise on what has worked?

I think this also.

Both organic and strategic

Probably saw what worked. What didn’t. Used it in a way that seemed organic. All marketing has some type of strategy behind it
