So I work as investment a***yst and interview industry executives in food/apparel/retail as part of my job

I have this project I’m working on currently that will be a conference on the streetwear market and its recent developments. My firm has booked the conference to be co-hosted by a VP of product design for Carhartt and he has confirmed his knowledge of some key trends based on our pre-qualifying discussions. I’ll be interviewing him on a few recent trends and the market outlook for streetwear in the US.

The following are the key topics I want to zone in on when I interview him:

    • The rise of high luxury fashion segment and consumer taste and preferences migrating further away from typical legacy urbanwear.

    • Potential for further market consolidation with the historically fragmented space with recent acquisitions of Stone Island by Moncler and Supreme by VF Brands being future signs for the industry.

    • Competitive landscape in the market and positioning of legacy players such as Stussy etc. and strategies to excellent brand heat and revitalize their identities with new consumers

those are great topics/questions. how much else do you have to come up with?

what is the end result of the conference? are people looking to come to see untapped areas for further consolidation, etc?

The call is typically an hour and I try to have 20 or questions with an agenda of 5 topics to fill out that time

The listeners of the call are hedge fund a***ysts and asset managers looking to understand the segment and potential for high-growth acquisition targets

do you think this is detrimental to the enjoyment of the people seeking to purchase the clothes and participate in a broader culture (does that get taken into consideration) or it this more like what moves can we make that are financially driven and address observations about the business side.

your clarification help about the listeners paints a clearer view of this so thanks

These kind of firms are pretty expansive in their strategies when they purchase brands as their trying to grow revenues as a number one priority

With that in mind, theoretically as the space sees more expansions and M&A activity I’d say finding a job would be easier — as many companies under management by those firms would be looking to expand and grow.
