That not Jordan Peele fans fam that’s just the average movie goer. This is far from the first movie to trick fans of a film maker into watching a film they didnt actually make

i know, that’s what i’m saying. it’s such a common marketing tactic but i haven’t seen anyone fall so hard for it like Peele fans

most likely a popularity thing but then my comment really isn’t funny anymore lol

It’s 100% average movie goers. Jordan Peele fans are the ones calling it out

The build up in this film is great but the ending felt empty to me. Def felt like a Jordan Peele knock off that had the aesthetic down almost perfect but none of the layers

    Marlon killed it tho

Also there are scenes in the trailer that aren’t in the film and I always hate that s***

Last sentence is what irked me the most. Movie seemed to have been changed a lot.

Great cinematography. Marlon and Tyriq did their things. Enjoying the humor and horror mix lately. There was a lot going on in the movie, which is fine, but not for the time allotted here. Why wasn’t there more football? The story felt like a mess at times as well. Whoever made the movie should’ve been more decisive about its direction. Ironic because it’s about a QB. Overall, I think a lot was left on the table w this movie. This movie could’ve been a real life Blitz The League but with demons and cults. Great concept, didn’t stick the landing. 7/10

They could’ve done so so so so much more with this film. The ingredients were all there.

we need a directors cut. what we saw is giving chopped up studio edit to me

Movie needed a way better writer and story

    Couples of random thoughts:

-The injury that Cam has in the beginning of the film was... strange. Super quick and glossed over. I guess it was a crazed fan, like one of those weirdos outside of Isaiah's compound? But it was never really made clear, and what was made even less clear was Cam's view point of fans after the incident. If Cam really has no opinion on intense toxic fan culture, why make that the cause of his injury rather than just football (a sport known for head injuries)? Also strange that we never see Cam attempt to play football after the injury. He does avoid the combine, but we don't really know if he would be able to perform or not.

-I really liked the the initial scenes at the compound, basically everything up until the passing drill sequence. That sequence was great and visceral and made sense as an sadistic football drill for a quarterback. But...

-After that sequence, basically nothing is relevant or specific to quarterbacking or football. Like does he even do another football related drill after that? And all of the "chapters" after that are essentially pointless, make no sense, and have nothing to do with the events of the day. Like seriously they ran out of ideas after "poise".

-Sauna sequence is where the movie went off the rails for me. So strange. Isaiah leaves the sauna, and we see the temperature start to go up? Idk it was implying that somehow Cam was going to be trapped in there with rising temps. That never happens. Instead one of the crazed fans attacks him in there, prompting Cam to fight back and then Isaiah to actually kill her. Idk I did not think Cam's reaction to this made any sense and this entire sequence was just kind of forgotten about and glossed over. The entire toxic fandom aspect of this was so undercooked and cringe.

-The shooting range scene was also very strange. They clearly brought a body out for them to shoot at, and I guess implied it was the woman from the previous day? But wasn't she already dead? Cam also has basically no reaction to this or shooting at a body.

-Fight to the death climax was horrible. Maybe this is just me, but how the f*** is a football horror film about quarterbacks not going to end in some kind of football related sequence? Shouldn't they be battling with their football skills to see who is actually better? Isn't that what all that training was for? A fight to the death is lazy, boring, and not the natural conclusion to this story in my opinion. The additional violence at the end with the owners also nonsensical and cringe.

-What exactly is Julia Fox's role in this scheme lol?

-The killing of the doctor was super vague and unclear to me.

-The entire ritual and contract and all that was too vague for me.

-Feel like we needed more highlight of how good Isaiah was at football? Him crushing the drills, being better than Cam, showing what was to be gained?

-There was another agreement between the owner and Cam's dad? I honestly did not catch or understand this. But like, what? How does that make any sense lol.

The s*** they implied at the end could’ve been a whole movie on its own. It’s like they knew what they wanted to say or do with this movie but got scared to actually do it.

Movies like this are worse than just straight up bad movies because this s*** could’ve actually been fire lmao

that’s my biggest gripe like i think this movie fell on its own sword trying to explore too much s*** at once and ultimately just not exploring anything

    we could’ve focused on

    • toxic cultism of sports fan bases
    • CTE in football
    • religious symbolism and deity’s in sports
    • exploitation of black men in the NFL / old white men leading the charge
    • obsession with perfectionism ala Black Swan
    • obsession with youth / effects of ageism and passing the mantle ala The Substance

it’s like it hit all of those but didn’t elaborate enough to be striking or have anything to say

Exactly!! This is exactly what I was about to type out because now I’m actually mad at how much of a wasted opportunity this was lmao.

Like why introduce these heavy themes and not even remotely elaborate on them.

And this movie doesn’t give nearly enough for someone to be able to say “it was vague in order to inspire dialogue on these subjects”… which ironically enough.. it’s doing right now lmao.

But the average movie goer won’t pick up on this s*** nor will they discuss what any of the things they saw implied.
