Movie needed a way better writer and story
Couples of random thoughts:
-The injury that Cam has in the beginning of the film was... strange. Super quick and glossed over. I guess it was a crazed fan, like one of those weirdos outside of Isaiah's compound? But it was never really made clear, and what was made even less clear was Cam's view point of fans after the incident. If Cam really has no opinion on intense toxic fan culture, why make that the cause of his injury rather than just football (a sport known for head injuries)? Also strange that we never see Cam attempt to play football after the injury. He does avoid the combine, but we don't really know if he would be able to perform or not.
-I really liked the the initial scenes at the compound, basically everything up until the passing drill sequence. That sequence was great and visceral and made sense as an sadistic football drill for a quarterback. But...
-After that sequence, basically nothing is relevant or specific to quarterbacking or football. Like does he even do another football related drill after that? And all of the "chapters" after that are essentially pointless, make no sense, and have nothing to do with the events of the day. Like seriously they ran out of ideas after "poise".
-Sauna sequence is where the movie went off the rails for me. So strange. Isaiah leaves the sauna, and we see the temperature start to go up? Idk it was implying that somehow Cam was going to be trapped in there with rising temps. That never happens. Instead one of the crazed fans attacks him in there, prompting Cam to fight back and then Isaiah to actually kill her. Idk I did not think Cam's reaction to this made any sense and this entire sequence was just kind of forgotten about and glossed over. The entire toxic fandom aspect of this was so undercooked and cringe.
-The shooting range scene was also very strange. They clearly brought a body out for them to shoot at, and I guess implied it was the woman from the previous day? But wasn't she already dead? Cam also has basically no reaction to this or shooting at a body.
-Fight to the death climax was horrible. Maybe this is just me, but how the f*** is a football horror film about quarterbacks not going to end in some kind of football related sequence? Shouldn't they be battling with their football skills to see who is actually better? Isn't that what all that training was for? A fight to the death is lazy, boring, and not the natural conclusion to this story in my opinion. The additional violence at the end with the owners also nonsensical and cringe.
-What exactly is Julia Fox's role in this scheme lol?
-The killing of the doctor was super vague and unclear to me.
-The entire ritual and contract and all that was too vague for me.
-Feel like we needed more highlight of how good Isaiah was at football? Him crushing the drills, being better than Cam, showing what was to be gained?
-There was another agreement between the owner and Cam's dad? I honestly did not catch or understand this. But like, what? How does that make any sense lol.
@A_New_Impression posted that, so I ain't have to post that
Music was great. Cinematography was great. When we got the first passing drill, I thought we was in for some S***. Then it slowly fizzled out from there...I just didn't understand what point they were intending to hit. Was confused as to how the father fit into it all. Didn't know wtf Julia Fox's purpose was. Just all around confusion, leading to boredom
Honestly pretty aight, idk why everybody's deciding to call this one so s***
This would've been better if it wasn't a lean 90 mins tho, if they gave essentially every scene more time to breathe it would've been more effective
I love short movies but this one definitely needed more time, it's got way too much going on to be a 90 minute movie.

So what I gathered from just watching it is that he was groomed as a child to be a potential GOAT candidate for the cult. His dad made a deal with the cult to create the next best prospect. When Cam tells his dad he’s quitting, his dad dies at the hands of the cult. They use the death to lure Cam back into football when he returns from the military.
Before the draft Cam is attacked by the head trainer who wakes him up everyday. This gives Cam the head injury. The cult said they did this because they wanted no other teams to touch him and leave them as the only ones wanting to draft him.
As far as the crazy fans go, the woman who is killed has the same white-ish blonde hair as Isaiah’s wife in the movie as well as similar make up. I believe she is a wife of the one who gave the GOAT to Isaiah, and the rest of the crazies hanging out there are kids or former wives of other players who have had their lives ruined by the cult.
After seeing it, I understand the negative reviews now. It's just most casuals (also old head white journalists) need their hand held throughout the movie and be spoon-fed. With a movie with this much symbolism to fully comprehend the bigger picture, it makes sense as too why the casual audience is not going to understand it. Not a bad thing. Watch this become a cult classic in the future.
Release the Tipping cut!
I believe this is the Tipping cut. Rumor is the movie was more/ less being written as it was being shot. Unfounded, however, I can see it having weight now having watched the movie and read the OG script.
Movie had so many cool areas to explore that it just glossed over. Thinking about the potential here is so disappointing it hurts. Most of all, it needed more football.
