Nicki accolades are more spread out through the decade. While future's is pretty much in the back half. Nicki probably deserves it more so than him
Nicki probably has a greater claim to it but lol @ listening to Nicki Minaj for any nigga to say that and truly believe it lol
i do 100 percent non joke, but on the low
A lot of yall weren’t outside when Pink Friday came out and it shows. That album and year for Nicki was incredibly massive and exciting.
Lmao
You could argue the hype was crazier during Itty Biggy Piggy/beam me up scotty era...every chick on Myspace had Barbie or Minaj in they name lol
But you can't say 2010 like Ross, Ye aint happen
Only on ktt will people tryna force someone who dropped 4 albums before 2010 into this convo
so why on @akademiks, @rapdirect, @rap & @ourgenerationmusic @rapmusic are top comments all saying ye
Theres definitely a difference between what's hot in the hood and what people play. There's also some exaggeration. People pretty much play w.e. they want anywhere. However, the hottest (rappers most cared about) since like 2010 have pretty much been
-the drill artists
-flocka
-gucci
-gotti
-boosie
-future
-thug
-new rappers from this era
First three sentences are pretty much it
What's getting more play than all this s*** is the hottest local nigga tbh lol

I mean that's just a testament to how crazy his career has been
Even now if he was still rapping with cuss words he'd still be one of the top rappers in the game
If he didn't let Drake make him insecure (for no real reason either lol) in the second half of the 2010's he probably would solidly be on this
I'm not the biggest post WTT Ye fan but MBDTF, WTT, Yeezus, Kids See Ghosts and Pablo aren't weak albums that came and went lol its just always compared to CD to 808s

Now look at all the replies telling them that ye a generation prior

Ye's my favorite artist of all time. And I'll easily take his projects from 2010s over everyone on that list. But this convo is about 2010s rappers. He doesn't belong in it. This like me putting Em, Wayne and Hov in the convo, it's a different generation.
Cole on there for no reason

The difference is that MBDTF is arguably the consensus best all around Ye project (I'm a graduation guy myself)
Blueprint/Black Album, MMLP/Slim Shady, C2/C3 all came out firmly in the 2000's and aside from 4:44 they don't really have a defining project in the 2010's. Hell Wayne just started dropping music frequently again after like 6-8 years lol
Kanye's the only one out of that list who was in the mix this whole decade until the church stuff
But I get why its a weird placement

MBDTF and that's really it according to popular consensus. So that's barely even a factor, a lot more people prefer the trilogy anyways.
And nah wayne dropped 14 projects, a mix of albums and mixtapes and sold more records than ye, kendrick and cole. And rebirth is probably his most influential project. Em dropped 6 projects and sold more records than ye, kendrick, cole. Hov less so but still sold a lot of records.
Nobody cared about travis till 2014.
Cole was anointed as a chosen one and delivered a 10 year career with hits, classic verses, classic projects, developed a label and still remains one of the best sellers from his era for the past 10 years.
Kanye is an 00s artist.
Is this about artist who debut post 2010, or about who was influential, and put out music at a high clip?
Nicki did have a notable influence on the emergence of female rappers in the second half of the decade.
Future changed the way rappers used auto tune and influenced some of the biggest names in the game.
The SoundCloud era was a huge defining moment in the 2010’s but didn’t result in all that much chart success. As far as I know X is the only SoundCloud rapper with a number one, and he had a major impact on the game.
Idk what other suggestions should even go up there beyond that
Is this about artist who debut post 2010, or about who was influential, and put out music at a high clip?
It's about running the 2010s lmao. Artists that really hit their stride pre-2010s dont count
Nicki accolades are more spread out through the decade. While future's is pretty much in the back half. Nicki probably deserves it more so than him
Future made 2014 - 2015. Music would have ended without him
It’s really Drake, Nicki, then Kendrick.
We can have a long debate about where to put Cole & Future.
And if we’re keeping it a buck, Kendrick’s position in that is getting weaker by the months.
This is about the 2010’s specifically. And Kendrick’s spot really isn’t debatable for the 2010’s. The most critically acclaimed rapper of the decade, mainstream success, four classic albums, a soundtrack to one of the biggest movies of the decade, one of the most talked about verses ever, etc etc.
Drake has his spot off commercial dominance, Kendrick has his off of critical dominance.
I think Cole’s spot isn’t solidified though.
If it’s RnB, it will undoubtedly have to have The Weeknd even though he’s more or less fully pop now imo.
After that it gets tough tbh. RnB artist don’t put out nearly as much music as Hip Hop/rappers do. Their music lives with you a lot longer though.
Miguel, Solange, and idk a fourth. I primarily listen to RnB nowadays so this is hard. A lot of my favorites only really been putting out music since 2014ish
It's about running the 2010s lmao. Artists that really hit their stride pre-2010s dont count
If it’s about running the 2010s it shouldn’t really matter when the artist started if they were still running hot during that era
i get that Kanye took a bit of a dive after Pablo (excluding KSG) but to not include him on this is ignorance at its finest
If it’s about running the 2010s it shouldn’t really matter when the artist started if they were still running hot during that era
Kanye was never as hot as he once was in the 00s. He cooled off. The sales prove this. Kanye is always gonna be relevant same way jay wayne and em are. Kanye didnt impact music collectively the way the 4 biggest of the 2010s did and decades are run by different generations.
