what does nicki have going for her thats universally praised post 2012? she has a cult following that can rap verses that make them feel like a bad b****. she gets no praise from her female predecessors. she went pop and it cost her any further ascension post-starships. she has no rebuttal when those literally playing by her playbook ultimately outshine her.

her over Cole? yeah I'd agree, but I beg of you to give me a convincing argument for her over travis/Tyler/future outside of seeing a video of a girl rapping a verse verbatim in someones passenger seat.

women are the tastemakers for the s*** we making

shes also the most influential between jcole and tyler when it comes to rapping and branding. nickis kids waaaaaay more successful than tylers. and dont get me started on j cole lmfao that nigga dont influence s***

Kanye was never as hot as he once was in the 00s. He cooled off. The sales prove this. Kanye is always gonna be relevant same way jay wayne and em are. Kanye didnt impact music collectively the way the 4 biggest of the 2010s did and decades are run by different generations.

The numbers show more people listen to KanYe West than J Cole and Kendrick and Future in the 2010s

  • May 29, 2021

    Drizzy gets the 4th spot

Drake impact so big his nickname gets a spot

  • May 29, 2021

Cole influences the kid with his ear buds in on the bus ride home from school. its not something to gloss over but other than that we're in agreement.

having your voice echo farther in billboard adjacent hip hop /= better at branding because as we're all aware billboard does not account for any heterogeneity in hip hop.

influence when it comes to rapping is a non-factor because its not 1995. clearly when we talk about rapping were talking about the artists who's technical rapping ability elicits the best albums and cultural moments, not the artist who outshines everyone in a staircase cypher or whatever. by your logic, Nicki is more influential than kendrick because mainstream artists rap like her more than they rap like kendrick.

if you want to talk about influence in regards to rapping, what makes carti less influential than Nicki? Nicki got the industry support to sell out arenas but carti has been almost solely responsible for entire movements of internet rap for 6 years now. never mind the fact that an artist like Tyler is a direct influence on not only alternative rap but the indie worlds that foster rex Orange County, clairo. Would post Malone say cringe s*** like "I like grapes" in grammy speeches if not for Tyler? Is there a yeezus without Tyler? is there a frank ocean/earl/tde/travis/brockhampton/lil nas x without Tyler? its a severe false equivalency

Cole influenced my life and those of his peers and the upcoming rappers. That s*** will always be more important than Nicki influencing Doja cat to wear a colored wig.

Just cause they don’t rap like you, doesn’t mean they aren’t influenced by you.

    Yes what's your point

I'm not a fan but Eminem was still insanely popular for most of 2010s, had some of his biggest songs then and album sales strong

Huh? Why not. Him Em and Drake most streamed rappers of 2010s I'm pretty sure.

And remember it's you who brought numbers into this
