For sure but we had an entire propaganda run pushed about how terrible his stadium tour was and how only bots are the reason he’s popular

Niggas are in denial when it comes to what’s cool if it doesn’t fit their little echo chamber

dont take dis change to get off ya dot botaganda bra

I will say that the younger crowd don’t have the same appreciation for bars and music of substance as the old heads do. Hip-hop is being valued more for its production and image than any lyrical talent.

I blame the all the edgy Eminem disciples that wanted to bring “real rap” back as well as all the club hits that took over the mainstream

cause most of these new lil niggas be having crazy fire art direction just no substance

yep i think Denzels advice to MBJ is accurate for music/ entertainers in general

Jordan, who counts Denzel Washington as one of his biggest inspirations, shared with the magazine that Washington actually gave him career advice encouraging him to stay offline as to not risk being overexposed. Washington put things bluntly by asking Jordan: “Why would they pay to see you on a weekend if they see you all week for free?”

s*** all about shock and awe now.

Every artist post 2015 has only blown up due to some controversy or being grandfathered in by being in the industry long enough

you lowkey have to balance the mysteriousness along with being present. You can't be like lil wayne and just be in a different dimension that you can't keep up with the times.

It applies more to musicians than any other entertainers cause social media is so built in to correlate to musicians and the music industry. The very nature of lyrics also ties into this but that would be too long

Taking 5 years off is not uncool, especially when it was during covid, so much empty music came and went during COVID artists were better off hiding away if they could afford it

I don’t think they would. It really just depends on the age. Like if you’re 25-27 you’re not gonna find Opium or adjacent artists cool but if you’re 12-17 they are probably the coolest niggas out.

It’s like when Uzi, Carti, etc came out for my gen they were the coolest niggas out but a 27 year old at the time isn’t gonna view them that way.

I think a lot of people on this site are out of touch (which there’s nothing wrong with that) and close minded.

Think a lot people itt just have rose tinted glasses of when they were that age. Like a lot of rappers that were cool back then also did lame s*** but since we were young we ignore it, but older people were more likely to call it out.

    50 and ye for example
