The UK hype feels like the "Thing vs Thing but in Japan" meme I don't hear any gap between them and the niggas in America they just have accents

I think Alton them are making dope music, where they lose me is consistently comparing to the US and tryna claim Reverse “influence”

A statement that can be interpreted to put down some black Americans & big up some non black Americans in their place is just fuel to the fire of anger in them FBA/ADOS niggas hearts

but also... Eff black immigrants who do actually disparage & look down on black Americans because they don't understand racial discrimination & systemic racism as much because they grew up in all black places

had to clarify, to keep them ADOS/FBA 🦝 off my back

but also... Eff black immigrants who do actually disparage & look down on black Americans because they don't understand racial discrimination & systemic racism as much because they grew up in all black places

A lot of the times, it boils down to the problematic pre-travel pep talk passed down by some parents, who go, "You are going there to sto-dee ah-nd be-comb ah doc-tah. Don't be like those foolish blah-k Americans when you get there. Behave."

Some folks never unlearn that s*** when they touch down, and we're in the disinformation age where stuff on the internet meant to disparage Soulaani folk is more rampant than ever.

Disliking his voice is fair lol but simz is A. Tbh not that interesting as a writer B. Entire package only on paper and her style isn’t that unique and kinda falls apart without inflo C. Her latest project sound wise is very just not interesting and boring imo, mink has his whole own style of genuinely innovative unique music

She can rap tho she has some good projects but

I like Simbi but that first part about her writing made me think. It's not even that she conveys things directly and that's the problem, but more like you hear some of her raps and think "man, I feel like that bar could've been taken way further." I do like her tho, lemme make that clear.

Some of it definitely is but a lot of it is Black British Music is easily one of the best albums of the year, and I wouldn’t just whimsically bestow a claim on something I don’t believe in

there is actual good UK rap too like dave and little simz
americans aggressively pushing fakemink and esdeekid as "the future of UK rap" feels like crabs in a bucket effect, trying to drag UK rap down to to the state US rap is in because they are jealous

Most US rap fans don't care about UK rap to bring it down tho like even Fakemink isn't really popular or known here beyond a specific brand of male rap fans

The de-blackening of hip hop is a good way to put it. Like I said, what new slang words we even got from hip hop? I would even argue that a lot of young people idea of “cool” is lame. I feel like the internet has made it corny to compliment and big somebody up because it’s looked at as “glazing” but slandering somebody dead relative in a Twitter argument get you all the retweets. Too much cornball Jamal behavior being promoted

There's a lot of reasons for why this stuff has happened and it's funny cause it's also a gender thing cause female rap is still a black space and the non black fans in it(other race women and gay men) know their lane.

There's a gender discussion to be had because just overall young straight men have fallen behind which is why you see in film all the "new" leading men are old niggas in they 50s.

Young men don't have an interest in art either they all wanna be streamers now so it's a talent drain there too.

Just a lot has gone wrong at the same time

    art programs lost funding
People stop going to church (especially a lost when you see what rnb singers we have)
Streaming made music not even a profitable endeavor which is saying a lot because it was crapshoot before

no it’s just women have room to be successful in music we have more than before and we also have many successful male artists but more overall so higher and lower extremes
