You should see fantano/kdot threads. So many people hating on listening to other black artists like only Kendrick makes good music (granted he does make good music he just isn’t a god or the only person making good music)
Guy in the video actually speaks on this as well.
It crazy to see that this album which was created largely in part for black ppl had so much hype to be reviewed by a white guy. like his / their opinion is the end all be all
Ain’t nobody putting this nigga on a pedestal. I’m not sitting here claiming the nigga deserves a Nobel peace prize. I’m just not about to sit here and self righteously slander him with niggas who probably have never even volunteered in their life
I didn't slander him; what I feel about Jay Z is the sane thing I feel when I see those Pentecostal pastors who preach prosperity take advantage of their church members.
I recognize the game, and I try to let people know what it is.
Kendrick named other black celebs and pretty much said don’t look to me or them as a “savior” the work starts within. Stop putting these niggas on that pedestal because of fame and money.
And niggas turned around said that’s wrong of him lol
Niggas addicted to d***riding
Why do y’all post this nigga? He’s black and didn’t start listening to rap until he was an adult
Because you got that hate in your heart when you online
no, but yes, no yes no...yes...................but no

For black people? There’s a lot of different black people you know this right
How would the constant reminder that the NFL is racist, and the consequent PR and funding hit compare to giving millionaire artists even more money?
Do you know how many racist hiring and employment practices the George Floyd protests helped overturn? How many Black owned bisinesses it helped support?
I was speaking more towards the end of your statement, black artists performing for mostly white audiences. But i see you meant in terms of the NFL and not just hip hop in general.
But We knew the NFL was racist tho lol I mean just the optic of having an “all white boys club” when it comes to ownership was pretty obvious for me anyway.
I didn’t really see any PR and funding hit in fact it looked to me like they continued to make money. It did bring a conversation tho and I’m not against protests but even tho kneeling became a talkin point it’s not like people really boycotted the NFL or atleast enough to make an impact imo.
Nor was there any real uprise like the George Floyd situation (ofcourse those are two different situations) Maybe the movement didn’t have enough time but I always wanted to know what was next. Like what would’ve happened if Kap actually got signed, then what?
I listened to both videos and I think that a lot of the criticisms in them are categorically unfair, uninsightful and nitpicky.
I think that a lot of people including people on this site say things like these guys do for other rappers they don't like. It's been interesting seeing these elitist things being flipped to Kendrick but I still think it's bullshit.
For black people? There’s a lot of different black people you know this right
Yes, and a lot of different black people can relate directly to the themes presented in the album
Like it's 2022, why are we still talking about the Migos flow. They've had two separate runs w/ the flow. And the whole of hiphop passed it around, but when Kendrick does it, it's unoriginal.
Or N95 is repetitive. It's a single! It's #1 goal is to be catchy. If you think an album is bad because a single is doing it's job, you're braindead.
It's also much easier for niggas in the 90's to say things to be original because nothing had been done yet. That's unfair. Pointing out Kendrick's influences as a negative is also dumb.

You make solid points.
I'm whatever on the album, but one thing I did see more of is older generations of Black men on Twitter and Facebook talking about wanting to be more open about trauma in their life from childhood to their teens. That is one of the central themes of the album and it seems like it impacted some listeners. So if those revelations and healing are influenced by the album for some listeners, that's a wonderful thing. It does however prove to the point that people like the subject matter more than the actual music. Which in my opinion isn't necessarily a bad thing. Lyrics, poetry, delivery, however you want to describe it are still part of the music.
All that being said the album is still a one listen classic to me though. The music itself overall was just not hitting in a manner I've come to know from Kendrick save for a few tracks. I said this in another thread about the album, Baby Keem is the worst thing to happen to Kendrick Lamar music.
Nah he loves drake and asap rocky
He called the new Rocky song whatever and CLB sleepy. He only likes beats. He's an EDM fan
folks will post the “capitalists …” line while ignoring “treat you crackers like I’m Jigga watch I own it all.”
Ain’t it funny how every big mainstream rapper mentions Hov or puts him as a feature on their projects. Almost like he is still better than them
When I look at Kendrick and Cole and reviews for Tyler, all that s*** is fake praise. These guys are going to go out the same way they came in. You know what I'm sayin, like hip hop heads ARE NOT listening to these guys like that, okay? They're getting their props? They're doing it for accolades for now. They know that if they make a certain type of album, certain type of music, fantanos will jump on it. Fantanos are not gonna be around ten-five years from now. They're not... you know what I'm saying.
And what's gonna be around? ASAP, PLAYBOI CARTI
He ain’t need too, after that Super Bowl censoring fiasco he showed himself that the voice for the voiceless is really just a fraud 🤦🏽♂️
arent you the mexican that says the n word

Hov grew his dreads and turned Muslim at like 40 and thinks he's going to destroy the empire by throwing brunches in the hills. He is not your savior.
I get that but in this conversation we are talking about african america inclusion, not capitalism. I don’t care if Jay-Z is worth a billion dollars, his image is jarring to ANY of these white people and why I think he keeps growing the hair on purpose. If we get more of that look like us, have contributed to the culture and are trying to expand, that’s what matters. Stop pocket watching
Exactly these fools on KTT don't understand

Bringing up originality in relation to Mr Morale is so disingenuous. Like be honest, in an era when everything is built on presets and sounds like a carbon copy of what's hot, who else has made this record with this point of view? Even TPAB had a clearer lineage.
It's a deeply flawed album and not even my favorite in rap this year with Billy Woods and Cities Aviv delivering masterpieces, but the arguments against it have been mostly terrible.
That hip hop universe dude said that kendrick says he’s not a savior in his album but that he portraits himself as jesus on the cover and music video, and that that’s a contradiction. He can’t even think a little bit
he also cited numerous lyrics of kdot sayong god is speaking thru him
this was a recurring theme throughout the album
on rich spirit kdot said sum like "spirit medium, I don't rap"
y'all just gloss over that s*** to force a narrative "kDoT sAiD h'eS I sNt YouR SaViOr"
ok he isnt our savior but he was very self-indulgent, preachy and likened himself to a prophet in more ways than one on the actual album tho
