lol if I speak..
The Eminem s\*\*\* is spot on though
It’s really not
I agree, but a lot of drakes good stuff is masked by uninspired garbage imo which is what a lot of rap is now. Uninspired throwaways put out to make buzz for a week maybe then repeat
At best Drake should take a small break to regroup and rest from recording so much material
His role as the guy who hit his artistic peak and is just running laps making a few guaranteed hits per album is valid and perfectly fine
@op a Drake stan? Got it
@op a Drake stan? Got it
I'm a Drake stan because I think 2023 Drake is better than 2023 Kanye and 2023 Eminem
That makes a lot of sense
I can't think of any artists in hip hop whose presence within the genre is genuinely hurting hip hop at a major level besides these two guys tbh. Both at their absolute lowest creatively and have been exposed as charlatans in varying capacities.
If Eminem retired a serious resurgence in lyrical hip hop could happen in the mainstream given that the corny "real hip hop" guys like Logic, Joyner, etc, would no longer be validated in the culture by an active hip hop artist and would either need to actually make good music or, more realistically, retire. A lot of white people would also lose interest in hip hop, and these were the types that pretty much only listen to Eminem to begin with, so getting them out of the culture would be nice.
If Kanye retired the right-wing co-opting of hip hop wouldn't be validated anymore either and these relatively successful far-right trolls would start to fade into obscurity as the alt-right abandons the fringes of rap and goes on to exploiting a different culture.
With neither making worthwhile art anymore, the game would be a lot better if these washed up old men would do us all a favor and never record a rap verse or create a song again.
Bold for stating this opinion. I can see your argument but what's to say it would make those people lose interest? The right wingification of hip hop has been super weird to see though in the past few years like wtf
You raise some interesting points. I’m not sure if those things would go away with Ye/Em though. The impact is already there.
Yes, the guy who made "Rich Baby Daddy" is better than the guy who made "Vultures" and "The King And I" at this point
What's the controversy here lol?
Considering Kanye West is a washed up Nazi I think it's safe to say we can retire him from the culture
crazy how nobodies wanna retire people from a culture that’s been over lmao

you brought up Drake for no reason lol it just seems like you have some kind of bias towards Ye for a verse that isn’t all that bad at all
What’s your thoughts?
Those types of corny lyrical guys existed before Em and in his initial absence from 2006-2009.
A lot of white people who listen to Em would just move on to other guys in that lane
Plus that wouldn’t get a lot of white people to stop listening to rap, just judging by the amount of whites on here who fetishize street rap or live vicariously through other artists like Carti or even Drake himself
Plus Em hasn’t dropped since like before the start of the pandemic

I didn't bring up Drake, @Big_Will did lol

Agreed
Em retiring from rap doesnt mean he's gonna like disappear into exile lol. He'll still have a decently credible word for at least a while

Ideally he would permanently retire and completely leave hip hop culture behind while he ossifies into the historical relic that he is and refuses to accept himself as

”the amount of whites on here who fetishize street rap or live vicariously through other artists like Carti or even Drake himself”
needs to be a separate thread
Eminem’s presence in rap isn’t even felt like that anyway and on a collective mainstream rap tip neither is Ye like that.
Kanye should just go the Pharrell route. just strictly make beats and put verses out here and there.

YUP. Mfs think it’s Kendrick and Tyler but I see WAAAAAY more white and hispanic people champion Carti and Drake than folks think lmfao

Em still has a huge pull with white people who don't listen to rap besides Eminem and other white rappers, and Kanye is like the ambassador for the far-right into hip hop
Close these two bridges down and a lot of people will be left outside of hip hop culture tbh. It's a very individualistically driven culture/industry at this point, two of the biggest artists in the genre's history going cold turkey would leave a major imprint tbh

This myth that Em is still the reason a bunch of whites listen to rap is kinda funny, like maybe he’s the reason a lot of older whites like Gen X era and millennials and s***.
But when I see younger white kids they usually Opium stans and fans of Yeat and them niggas

I'm not referring to those white kids, that's a separate problem
I'm referring to ROTC kids and s***
