How? If Ye retired and we’re left with Thug, Keef and Carti successors how does that improve the game?
Bobby never said they were improving the game. He’s actually refuting OPs point by saying Kanye and Em retiring does nothing to improve it cuz the other artists influences are stronger at this point
Without Mike, Cudi, and Push in his corner this man is cooked artistically and he can't even get distro for his music lol
These were huge ties he needed that fell apart irretrievably
He’s fine without Cudi for the most part. Push is a decent writer for him and yeah Mike can mix his s*** the best but he doesn’t need them moreso than he needs to actually take a break and get his mind right. Kanye was an amazing artist without any of those people

Word. I thought I was talking to OP i’m not even gonna lie lol
Is this right wing hip hop in the room with us right now

Nah it’s all good lmao
I can't think of any artists in hip hop whose presence within the genre is genuinely hurting hip hop at a major level besides these two guys tbh. Both at their absolute lowest creatively and have been exposed as charlatans in varying capacities.
If Eminem retired a serious resurgence in lyrical hip hop could happen in the mainstream given that the corny "real hip hop" guys like Logic, Joyner, etc, would no longer be validated in the culture by an active hip hop artist and would either need to actually make good music or, more realistically, retire. A lot of white people would also lose interest in hip hop, and these were the types that pretty much only listen to Eminem to begin with, so getting them out of the culture would be nice.
If Kanye retired the right-wing co-opting of hip hop wouldn't be validated anymore either and these relatively successful far-right trolls would start to fade into obscurity as the alt-right abandons the fringes of rap and goes on to exploiting a different culture.
With neither making worthwhile art anymore, the game would be a lot better if these washed up old men would do us all a favor and never record a rap verse or create a song again.
Yes the problem with hip hop is that it’s being overtaken with Joyner Lucas and Logic types and far right wing trolls
lmao
Even if they do retire, Ye's artistic highs and Eminem's lyrical highs are still some of the best that the genre has to offer.
Most rappers fall off at some point but they'll at least have that to their legacies.
Not to mention people overseas love them some Slim Shady regardless of how much America dislikes him.

These niggas are bewildering lol
These niggas are bewildering lol
Nah I’m not agreeing with OP it was a misunderstanding
”the amount of whites on here who fetishize street rap or live vicariously through other artists like Carti or even Drake himself”
needs to be a separate thread
True
yeah it is
No real music fan considers this legitimate impactful hip hop. Its presence or absence doesn’t change anything. And you have to do some mental gymnastics to blame Kanye for the existence of Tom MacDonald.
YUP. Mfs think it’s Kendrick and Tyler but I see WAAAAAY more white and hispanic people champion Carti and Drake than folks think lmfao
J Cole having a blacker fan base than most of this websites favs is also very telling.

I don't have to do gymnastics for a guy who cites Eminem and Kanye West as two of his biggest influences for existing as an artist

There’s nobody alive that Kanye hasn’t influenced.
like you’re not even necessarily wrong, but y’all just phrase so abhorrently lol

How he's influenced them is important lol

"Diet pitchfork writer wannabe ass thread"
"you're not even necessarily wrong"
It never required older gen rappers to retire for the game to change. New artists are just terrible
