If you want production competition, cool. Nobodyā€™s against it. Thatā€™s not even a new thing to have.

But bringing down important producers for the sound of the last decade in trap just screams jealousy for not being as recognizable and praised as them. Take their lane if you got it like that or keep making Nas beats only 17 niggas can identify.

Not saying he couldnā€™t but clearly he ainā€™t willing to step out his wheelhouse

The funny thing is heā€™s chopped up soul samples before and made beats with them, but since the drum patterns arenā€™t boom bap youā€™re choosing to act like they donā€™t exist or donā€™t count

Earl said this in an interview too.

  • Mar 9, 2023

Metro could never boom-bapify and drill-ify a Mary J. sample in the same song

  • Mar 9, 2023

He rlly dissing metro for not making discount just blaze n kanye beats lmfao

    BRAVE

So let me get this straightā€¦

Buddy is throwing stones at some of the most game-changing producers of the modern era for not doing a specific subgenre (mind you he has not changed the landscape in remotely the same fashion as Metro/Southside/Mustard as he doesnā€™t have a distinct sound), is a producer but is secretly so attention seeking and insecure that he had to make a whole ass rap diss, and weā€™re supposed to buy that this is ā€œfriendly competitionā€ā€¦

Man got gassed up caused he produced nondescript anachronistic beats for a few Nas albums and now he has the courage to bite that chip on his shoulder. You dusty niggas are eating it up too is the funny part LMAO. Sad but I commend the balls I guess lol

Metro Southside and Mustard didnā€™t change the landscape either though. Saying as a Nigga who downloaded fl in 2010 and watched this s*** thru every phase since then

Lex Then Pierre then Jetson to an extent

But this is mostly a response to what Hitmaka said. Like he didn't just come of nowhere saying this lol

If we gonna call this corny and jealousy then we gotta throw control in there too

He did go at hitmaka in the same snippet.

He went at more of his peers just to be competitive the way hitmaka was doing on hot97. It's not like he purposely went only at trap producers to s*** on them for making trap

Sounds like he did, and it sounds exactly like people who want to s*** on modern trap producers compared to other "versatile" producers.

You can challenge your peers without gargling on self-sucking production methods you deem higher if that's the case with the exclusively named trap producers.

I dont get the 2nd point. He didn't say he deem the techniques higher. He just are they also able to do this. The point being "hey I'm able to make music in ur style and also this style"

I mean I wouldn't call hitmaka a trap producer and for mustard, ehh Idk if i would call him one either

That's the impression I get with "I can do this, but I've never heard some boom bap outta you!"

It just doesn't matter with this imaginary comparison created and feels forced as a way to chip at someone lmao.

Just challenge him to a beat off

Based on that first statement is why this conversation needs artist to speak up about who has the biggest impact on the production landscape. You donā€™t have to start the wave for the innovators to push it even more foward bro thatā€™s the whole point

I mean maybe Iā€™ll give it to southside on some unconscious s***. Like in Lex absence he by default may have became the generic trap beat prototype

But mustard and metro have no clones or lasting trends lol
