I've been playing on base PS4 and it's real solid, smooth 30fps and good graphics. Only occasionally have I ran into a slowdown, typically during some of the big fight scenes

Switch to story difficulty to feel like god as you rinse through a bunch of dinos and level up fast then switch back and go through the story with some skills that make the combat more fluid

Not far in the story but about 5 hours of gameplay in and this game is incredible so far! It's so beautiful too

Thought the first Horizon was mid just like Ratchet 2016 and the sequels ended up s***ting on the 1st games. (Not all sequels does this)

when you first start the game it’ll give you a short movie that recaps all the important plot from the first game

PSA: definitely do the “signal spike” side quest, you get a great weapon called the Drill spike

Wish they never changed the way rock throwing works from the 1st game, s*** doesn't work half the time and she swings the spear instead.

I will say, I don't know if it's cause I played on normal with HZD, but playing on hard mode these machines will obliterate you in less than 2 seconds.

Hard mode on the first game was ass, enemies were just given more health so they became arrow sponges. Hopefully they changed that and AI behavior actually changes on hard

The story is pretty important in the first so I’d say to play it but you can just watch a recap and you should be good. This game is significantly better than the last tho so if you get bored on the first it definitely gets better. First game starts off real slow too

Still not sure what my final feelings are on this, I'm prob about 10 hours in and it feels like a refinement of the original in so many ways (I say this as someone who played through the main story of HZD and didn't see why it got so much acclaim). Doesn't bring much new to the table IMO but it does pretty much everything a sequel should do. Still don't really give a s*** about the story but it's more engaging than the first (still blows my mind that there are people who act like the "twist" in that game is mind-blowing). Hoping it continues to hold my interest, I'm already feeling a little bit of repetition but tbh I have been binging the hell out of it. Most fun part to me is taking down big machines. Idk why they continue to throw those long-ass indoor platforming sequences in, by far the worst sections of the game IMO. Main reason I posted this is because I was so surprised gamespot gave it an 8 lol, based on my experience so far and what they'd typically rate a game of this caliber it seems kinda low.
