It’s also not that great
Nah HOB is pretty great. I think it’s obvious the impact it had on music too
I mean you’re out here doing all this to prove a point after the Bruno thread so
he completely moved on from that thread. in that thread he was questioning whether HOB counts as a pop album or not. don't f*** up homie's thread over nothing lol
Bruh this is just a typical song structure for any genre. I don’t get what’s special?
Someone for once actually dropping some musical knowledge and opening a discussion but of course half the thread gon be bait lol feel sorry for thomas

Not f***ing up anything. Whole point of this thread was to prove a point hence the Bruno post in this very thread.

There’s nothing special about it it’s pop song structure

The whole trilogy is overrated to me. Like the highs are great but as individual tapes it’s hard to get through cause they feel like they drag on

I only like HOB tbh so I feel that

oops he did bring bruno back up. lol whatever i'm out
i only remember the blogs trying to coin PBR&B
It’s this community in general...people like to paint the picture that The Weeknd “turned pop” but this thread is to show that he’s ALWAYS been pop...just didn’t sound how you thought pop would sound
If he likes it and is passionate about it i dont see the issue in this thread, its not like he's hating
I made that Bruno post so people didn’t come itt and say “you just made this thread bc of Bruno Mars”
Wanted to beat them to the punch even though this isn’t really about him, it’s more so about the “turned pop” thing I mentioned earlier
I also would like to see House of Balloons mentioned in pop album discussions

Yeah I get that but saying “So the answer is yes Weeknd has a better album” makes it look like the whole point of this is to continue that discussion

That’s fair, def a bad move on my part
This some bullshit btw most r&b songs follow that structure to. Most genres do + only 1 song exactly followed your so called ‘pop song’ formula.

I guess my question would be what makes an R&B song different to a pop song.
Is it just how it sounds or are they structured differently?

What’s bullshit? Pop song structure? It’s a very real thing dude I didn’t just make this up it’s going to bleed into other genres that’s literally what pop music does

'pop' was just a cursed term back then if you still wanted to look cool so they created PBR&B or put alternative in front of genres to try and make it seem like pop or r&b wasn't always forward-thinking of experimental
Doesn't R&B usually follow the same song structure? If so what separates the two?
Unless you're saying the distinction between the two is arbitrary, which I can get behind I guess

The structure ain’t bullshit, but you can brake most songs up and have a similar structure, I’m saying it isnt far from pop exclusive. Also you said most songs follow the exact structure you described and then proceed to break each song down and have to make notes about every song telling why it’s different from the structure you described.
