no disrespect but what does that have to do with emotional depth
That he can recognize an element of music outside of his sphere (trap vs gospel) and incorporate it into his music, requires a certain level of emotional depth to understand how it can even work with your music, since music is built on sounds, tensions, etc. and from there has written and recorded music that does go into those emotional depths and leans into those traditional sounds his producer is more familiar with to create a new sound in trap
Eh. He can do it again. He’s dropped some great music this year and every year since 2019 and with proper promo, you get a super gremlin again. He’s really good at promo when he locks in. He’s young and just gotta sober up, let’s let our young greats do it
like it or not perception plays a big part. like tweaking on drink champs and poppin pills on kai cenat stream does way more harm than good. his breakfast club interview did a lot to endear him to people. all that helps people get engaged, more people wanna check for him, more big artists wanna work with him which gets more fans involved and makes bigger records, incentivizes the label to put the machine behind him, it all builds up on one another
yak is honestly best of his generation and u either hear it or don’t
lot of these other niggas been hyped but yak is a legend fr he’s a musician
Gucci also has a lot of songs that cover wide range of topics why you niggas get on this site and just talk. I could keep going by the time you run out of Yak songs to post lmao. Stop it bruh. Respect to both. Yak a young legend
maybe most introspective guwop song

You say that, and it’s true, but then on the flip side there’s a Kodak meme from the stream with 50M views that’s being taken as hilarious and overshadowing that situation
This what I mean by he’s an interesting individual because he’s in a space where he’s almost expected to have those issues now that it doesn’t necessarily harm his clout per say

maybe most introspective guwop song

Too bad these songs are trash tho
i don’t even think it matters what amount of success he would have, i feel like it’s more about if he’s sober or not
critical+mainstream s*** he don’t have on lock as often or as much as some of his counterparts but he had huge moments
but fr his rapping and songwriting ability is unparalleled
what’s holding him back from larger critical acclaim is less bc of his legal issues. carti is one of the biggest rappers rn with a quarter of the output as his peers and allegations held against him that’s awful
i just don’t think someone as authentic as kodak will have mainstream appeal. as “effortless” it’s made to look, every carti rollout has had a big creative team around him that’s usually full of the most creative young people in their medium.
i don’t think kodak is going for that kind of pull, relationship with audiences. i think he drops music to be heard and that’s it.
a sober kodak isn’t gonna turn around and make a gkmc, but i think his pen will be more focused and hopefully deliver an album mainstream can’t ignore

Great post as always man
Kodak had authentic ass hits back in the day too he didnt need to do forced rollouts or gimmicks really
Like from 2015-19 he had hits if you were outside

I wouldn’t do it is good but cmon man. We can all agree Gucci is much more legendary in comparison to Kodak but he is not as good of a musician and that’s okay!
Could’ve been the face of the new school easily.
And even with all his issues he’s still up there
Him, Pop, Juice and X would’ve been Mount Rushmore
