Michael Jackson’s changing appearance at the beginning of both the Bad and Dangerous era’s was often brought up in the media as to why the album sales were not matching the speed of sale of the Thriller album.
You would hope given the era of receipts and how information can be spread that the evidence of MJs vitiligo would be common knowledge but this is Michael Jackson so there is always a different standard applied for that man.
I think his skin color started getting brighter during the Thriller era but it got much more noticeable before/during Bad. Plus his album sales weren't gonna top Thriller. The only place he could go was down tbh
