Start with learning the basics of EQ and compression. The most important part of mixing is training your ear to be able to fix what’s wrong and knowing what tools to use.

i think the most important thing about mixing is having really good, clean sounds in the first place, then you can focus on honing your ear and learning where and what to EQ to get the sound you want. also, subreddits have basically taught me how to mix and use compression

for the future obviously with nice set ups etc. now i just have fl mostly i record my stuff on garageband,so i can have demos but also i want to learn how can i get the voice effects when i go to the studios i always get the rough mixing and they don't understand when i tell them what i want

Mixing is 100% preference. Of course some things can be badly mixed, while others can be coarse, dry, gritty, etc. intentionally. It depends on the sound that you want. It's all about hearing and knowing what you like and dont like.

    Gain staging
    Balance
    Panning
    EQ (subtractive and additive)
    Compression

Do research on each of these. These are just the basics.

Yep this is the bread and butter, the framework

  • My advice is to watch youtube videos explaining those basic topics above, and take notes so you can understand everything better

When you read them back youll see everything in context
