Will smith, Tom Cruise, and John Travolta are the A list names I know that have ties to it. If people that big feel pressured enough to join such a horrid cult, I wouldn't doubt that more actors are involved but just smart enough to not want it to effect their PR. The church of scientology is SUPER rich. To the point where I don't doubt that the receive large funding from Hollywood. What's your opinion?

I'm not sure how deep it runs as far as power but I have heard before that they like to go after aspiring actors who end up lost looking for work. Basically a easy target.

Honestly, I don't think they run particularly deep. Like I don't think there's long list of secret Scientologist movie stars that would blow your mind.

I think all the people that they do have influence on are pretty apparent, Cruise/ Travolta/ Smith. They have (or had at one point) other working actors, Elisabeth Moss, Giovanni Ribisi. I think Beck is/ was a Scientologist. I'm sure they have other's that I'm not aware of, but I doubt they have many, at least not A-listers.

I think they want people to think that they can make or break people's careers to lure in new members. I'm sure they do have some connections at agencies/ studios and among celebrities, to help people's careers that they feel will be valuable to them, but I think it's overblown.

Warner/ HBO went after them pretty hard a few years ago with Going Clear, and Paramount went after them pretty hard with South Park. Leah Remini did that series for A+E, owned by Disney. So whatever influence they have, it's not enough to prevent studios from completely s***ting on them.

I've spent a few year living in LA, and I've never met a Scientologist (that I'm aware of).

I think part of their problem is, their religion is so stupid, that actually educated people (studio executives, talent agents) would be very unlikely to join. They can get some celebrities, but lots of celebrities believe dumb s***, and they're usually just ignored.

Really their biggest threat is harassing/ taking advantage of people that get involved with them.
