Growing up in NY in this era was pretty nuts. I knew a bunch of people who got sucked into Steez’s ideas and got the logo tatted
lmao
very lame of you to try and bring hate on Steez of all people
I responded once to this oversensitive type of post from Americana or whatever. I find it funny that 2 leftists chirped about this. Aren’t we supposed to be the critical thinkers out of the bunch? I am not inviting hate but I also am not the type of person to shy away from a subject that makes people uncomfortable, no matter how near and dear to your heart it is. I figured if I forgot it, there had to be others that did as well.

He's a known p****. Not surprised
The explanation and it being different enough is actually solid imo, and was during the time of Kanye's half assed "take back the Confederate flag" era of Yeezus I assume it was playing off of.
Also what they said about the actual symbol is correct, it was stolen, and was meant to symbolize peace. It is one of like 30 designs of similar symbols that you find all over India and Japan, especially in their temples. Including the one Hitler took and, uh, repurposed.
It is cringe but I can see the line of thinking especially since they were all literal teenagers and thinking they were doing sumn very profound and important.
It's just fake deep teenage stuff that has good intentions but naive/sloppy/inexperienced execution. I thot thread was gonna have Nazi lyrics and him with Nazi memorabilia.
thot?
They delete posts in the hood now b**** ass nigga? @TroyAveStan

The OP is literally just Wikipedia and then i said 1 line where it sounded like he got too into 4chan.
I then looked into Reddit posts about steeze from the 10s to corroborate the wiki. And this argument has been going on for over a decade

I was around a lot of niggas deep into the pro era s*** around this era. I’m more mad I didn’t care for the music at the time, though I was happy they represented the city.
Scold posting is never going to die huh?

Show me where I scolded this young man. I probably went at WSG or Kanye in here harder than Steeze
Odd Future influence.
Not excusing it, but everybody was being a cringey edgelord in 2011.

I loved the Beast Coast music, honestly wish NY as a whole adopted that sound. Because you still got great lyrics but the production was so forward thinking (not heavily 90s inspired) especially with guys like Flatbush Zombies and The Underachievers. But they were too weird especially for close minded NY people and never got the industry/radio backing. I had older homies and classmates that were heavy into the Pro Era stuff, even started rapping because of it

A lot of these groups like them and OF and ASAP and Raider were the 1st internet based movements. Youth movements away from the major labels (for a while anyways)
Crazy how long it’s been damn steez rest easy
Damn that gives direct context
Do you know of any decent youtube docs on Steez close to this quality?
Its for @fuego
I softened the thread title to be a little less accusatory, I wasn't trying to slander this man
