    How he met Dre:

was just about to post this
    also

couldn't find a mention of the actual time/date etc the notorious call (which he hung op on initially ) happened, but i know it was due to Dre hearing Ignorance is bliss and this interview is from December 2010 and Overly Dedicated dropped in september same year. With ignorance is bliss dropping promotionally in August.

Kendrick has had a lot of things happening for him, standout moments, good looks and things that he worked for that blew him up ofc and snowballed the hype both before and after getting in touch with Dre but him getting involved with one his childhood idols and working side by side with Dre was definately INSTRUMENTAL (sorry) to taking him to that next level as an artist, and the profession/industry/connection/business side of things. A progression you can def hear in S80, with that being said even back in the days of the Kendrick Lamar EP he was DESTINED for greatness

also "Everybody heard that I f*** with Dre and they wanna tell me, I made it
I ain't made s***, if he gave me a handout
I'ma take his wrist and break it"

Idk why but when Kendrick was upcoming you could feel he was destined for greatness

Cole too btw (although i dont think he did really succeed in terms of potential like Kendrick)

But they had something from day 1. Wonder if that also was w the older legends

OP I was following K Dot since the KLEP days so let me tell you how it went down.

Kendrick released OD and shot videos (Ignorance is Bliss, etc.) and got some traction. Also got some airplay on local LA stations.

But his ascent really skyrocketed off of one event. It was his first headlining show after dropping OD, in the Key Club in Hollywood (near House of Blues). I was there, and there was probably 400 people max (DJ Quik had a table). It was at this concert that Big Sean, Cole, etc. came out. A lot of hot blogs at the time (2DopeBoyz, etc.) covered this event. There were more eyes on him due to this, and given how great of a project OD was, people started following him.

His "mainstream" come up is also attributed to opening up for Drake in the club paradise tour. But it all started at that night in Hollywood.

  • gimme a hug

    drake invented him

This a troll post but there’s actually people who think this
