What's your usual go to this question? I'm not talking about regular job, I'm talking about professional office job interview.
Dumbass interview question lol
just say you resonate with their mission
Yeah like we all don't know it's for the money
some bs on why you like the organization
i usually research the company and tie together into a personal passion and my experience
my recent examples:
ad agency copywriter: perfect fit for my passion for creative writing and my experience in creating successful marketing collateral
pharmacy company: as someone that grew up with a sick parent, this company is a perfect fit for my experience in healthcare communications and my personal mission to help others
I google the company's values and rattle those off. I also quote something their CEO said in some bullshit interview 3 years ago and that I really f***ed with that thing he said.

this is good too especially since most companies will list these on a website now
'I know that youre looking for x position and since im familiar with your company as a decent employer and a place where talent thrives I figured I might fit your requirements' for starters
later on tell them how you'll solve their problems, thats what team leads care about during later interviews. basically if its front office (hr, dept heads, ceo) its okay to put on and talk about values and mission and if its managers and leads focus on your work and how you might help them as part of their team
If it’s a large publicly traded company, google their value proposition they state in 10k or investor reports
Try to paraphrase and say how you respect that and want to contribute with xyz skills
Also yes research your interviewer
Do you guys also research the person that's interviewing you?
Where & do what with the information you gain exactly?
Talk about the opportunities of growth that you’re excited to see in this new position. Base it off the responsibilities of the job posting

I was given their name and LinkedIn

What are you going to research? How are you gonna use that information?

idk that's why I'm asking
I thinking knowing what this person does and how long have they been at their position is good to know

I don't see any value in it. The person interviewing you will be a staffing consultant. Whether they have held that position for 1 year or 10, doesn't help me any way in the slightest. Maybe someone else sees an upside.

What if the person that's interviewing is the hiring manager?
What if the person that's interviewing is the hiring manager?
I mean yeah, a possibility if the company is smaller or has a shortened interview process. Doesn't make a difference. Either of them is gonna ask you questions, and for both of them you're gonna have to tell them the answers they want to hear.

So you're saying don't waste time on researching the person you're interviewing with?
