What really f***s people over is politicians getting lobbied (bribed) and passing laws that benefit big companies and hurt people and the environment

you dont think these are direct and natural consequences of capitalism?

Well yeah but that’s why we need checks and balances. We were a pure capitalist society during the industrial revolution and there were monopolies and people being exploited heavily. What’s going to (hopefully) mitigate things like this is are electing people who have people’s best interests in mind

one thing that i will seriously add is that late capitalism is reliant on unfathomable levels of exploitation and poverty in the global south, in which data is manipulated to create the appearance of "improving conditions".

if there was a movie in which more than half of the world was oppressed and destitute, we would undoubtedly cheer them on in toppling the system.

but on KTT2, we laud capitalism as "human nature" and "successful" then go buy a PS5 that was built by someone who eats dirt cookies to deal with hunger pangs

Because they don't have to see it, or are just racist. its one of two

Lmaooo chill I’m going off tangents

In all seriousness, for capitalism to be sustainable, I think there needs to be major oversight/hauling of the system. It can’t continue the way it has, it’s morally wrong tbh.

    Okay okay

How do you feel about capitalism?

it's a largely poorly defined term only seriously used in a political sense, not an economic one, same with socialism. all you gotta do is take a look at how differently the term socialism is used across the globe as an example of this.

but if we're going to bear with it, it's overwhelmingly evident that private property rights (along with some other factors like democratic institutions) have been shown to be the most optimal path for prosperity
