There's so many times in games where content is unnecessarily locked behind post-game.

Sometimes there are things like abilities, weapons, characters, combat bonuses, etc that can only be earned after completing a games story and beating the final boss, or even worse, only in NG+. Why can't we just get these things during the main campaign?

I enjoy post-game content that adds additional short storylines or objectives that go beyond basic super bosses and farming dungeon for no apparent reason other than maxing out characters.

    its alright

    Depends on the game fr.

I feel like nioh 2 did the post game well. All though it had ng+ you don’t have to play all the missions over . You can do like 8 missions and grind levels and gear and face the last mission again and get to the next ng.

And it was encouraged to get to the last ng because you unlocked the highest tier of equipment and at that point the fun comes with making various builds

I feel like completing development on a game and making post game content ready for certain dates after release is fine. Some people look at it as leaving out content, but in some situations developers do drop a complete base game . Resident evil 7 and assassins creed odyssey is a good example of this. The DLC felt like DLC. It felt like they gave us a complete product and had extended ideas that aids the story but is not essential

Super Mario Odyssey does it really well, extra moons in all the areas, adds a ton of content
