I think ancient life is something that captivates all of us. Imagining the animals we have today but on a grander scale or with more unique properties intrigues everyone is who you are. But with science advancing in it's ways of creating life from something as small as DNA samples, it seems more and more than Jurassic Park could become more fantasty than reality.
That said, where do you stand on this issue? Do you think it's a worthy investment of resources trying to bring back extinct animals? Would you love to see some of these animals graze the earth again, or do you think nature took it's course and they should remain extinct? Personally, the idea that life was drastically different millions of years ago is so fascinating because everyone is used to the same animals for their entire lifetime, I would love to see a wolly mammoth in the flesh, or any plethora of the ancient life we have discovered. Though it does raise concerns of morality and potential dangers of bringing back creatures with no natural predators.
I wanna see a sabre toothed tiger at the zoo
This is impossible for us to do I actually looked this up yesterday cuz I had the same thought

After seeing a real Lion for the first time in person not too long ago and hearing that motherfucker roar, and even more elite one would be terrifying
I came across this topic looking at lists of extinct animals and plants.
Depends on how many they making. Could shift the ecocycle and mess with food chains. Would suck cause currently living animals can barely survive cause of us already

What did you find that confirmed that? I seen a lot of dinosaurs are unlikely because we don't have their DNA which is essential to the process but we do have some ancient DNA preserved.

Well that's a big argument I see brought up is we need to care better for our current animals before bringing in more. It would also be a slippery slope, I don't think if we brought anything back it could ever exist in the wild. Literally anything we bring back would instantly become an invasive species wherever it's dropped and would probably dominant any ecosystem.

Basically in order to clone animals we need the dna, the fetus will also need an embryo to grow in. So if you wanna clone a dog for example you use a dog embryo, pretty much another dog as a surrogate.
But you can't use a T Rex as a surrogate because they extinct, and we got no idea what kinda embryo if any would work for a t rex or any other ancient animal. Plus dna degrades extremely fast .. Meaning we got no shot of finding some dinosaur dna all these millions of years later.
humans are gods now dam
This alone is why it's not that far fetched when people say aliens may have made humans or things of the like. If we are getting to the point of creating life from scratch, civilizations with millions of years on us definitely could do it no question.

Well that's what I'm saying, not dinosaurs perse but we have discovered some very old DNA that's been preserved from things like Wolly Mammoth mouthes. So it's not like we don't have ANY ancient DNA to work off of, maybe not a T-Rex anytime soon but definitely some old extinct animals. They're currently trying to bring back the DoDo if I'm not mistaken. As far as the embryo goes that seems like a matter of trial and error
