    Maybe “grandpa” is reaching here

    But

I’ve always felt like 100 gigs and $$$4u feel noticeably “cheaper” than some of drakes other work and when I say cheaper i mean the way the tracks are organized and also the way drake’s VOICE sounds in the track, it’s not as smooth or cool as it usually sounds

    The way 40
Mixes a song is RICH, gives even basic ass songs atmosphere

This trump tower leak feels like some 40 s***, it’s refined, his voice slides he floats on here.

I think it sounds richer, organized and more expansive than WDIDM, which one, thats just how I feel and dog house

Her loss and HNVM both have the 40 feel
    Even FATD.

All that to say trump tower is fire and better than anything from the ice man roll out so far

$$$4u doesnt feel cheaper than her loss/hnvm/fatd imo just ur recency bias

drake got the most expensive sounding music like i always praised 40 and the rest of the engineering/production team like his music can be played at max level in my car and not sound distorted

Someone here once said Drake was a duo made by Noah Shebib and Aubrey Graham

I don't fully agree but I think there's some merit to it

I get the impression Drake generally cares less about toiling over his music these days.. The stakes are lower now, he did it, there's less to prove tbh. I know people love when it's been laboured over, but part of me appreciates that looseness, it feels more dynamic at times and less rigid/contrived. I definitely hear the difference in mixes, but I think I care less about this than I may have in the past.

Very important, but I still think Drake still got a good production team behind him.

With each passing day, I think more and more that 40 was the secret X-factor to the magic of those early Drake projects the entire time. Comparing the amount of 40 credits on Drake projects pre-Views and post-Views are really eye-opening when you compare it side-by-side

There's no secret to it - its 1000% true; Drake's music started to suffer significantly once 40 started to take more of a step back. The bigger issue, I think, is that Drake tried to find producers that would try and re-do 40's sound. The genius of 40 was that he was always pushing boundaries. From a production side, his melodies always sounded fresh and new, you could tell that he was honing in his craft from album to album. On the engineering front, you could also hear the improvements and the experimentation. Just listen to some of his interviews from that era. The guy is a total nerd about music prod and he was a true professional.
