@1:00 Talib talks about seeing Em battle rap in New York and destroy his competition before he blew up
I don’t think he’s considered a goat in battle rap. It’s just acknowledged that’s how he came up. Same with Meek Mill.
He considered one of the goats because of his past in the 90’s. Y’all forget that time existed back then lol
Every Em thread that gets made y’all rewrite history and act like these accomplishments aren’t accomplishments
Battle rapping != diss tracks
Em was good back in the Scribble Jam days when he was rapping against Rhymefest & Juice but he'd get waxed by anyone on the scene today.
Well I mean the way they use to battle back then is completely different from how it is now lol
Those king of the dot battles are corny af. I cant believe you respect a man going out and doing Islam poetry for 45 minutes
em was rapping writtens against a dude who was just freestyling and still lost how could he possibly be the goat battle rapper

u holding him accountable to that in 2020
Em mos definitely is not the goat battle rapper.
But he ain't no slouch and legitimately came up off the scene when it was in its early days. This the middle ground to be reached but we got Em haters on one side and Em d*** riders on the other.
it's just because he's ruined artists careers before. alot of people on this site weren't old enough to realize the impact and legacy he has

Never heard them. I know Big L competed in some local s***. If it's documented feel free to post. Otherwise you can only go by what exists. Scribble Jam was definitely the most established competition in the 90s that produced guys like Thesaurus and Illmaculate. I'm not familiar with NY battle rap until the 2000s. That was more the DVD scene.
Battles and freestyles in NY
-Jay z vs dmx in 1989 on tour, just kicking freestyles
I think that NY Mcs were far beyond whatever eminem tried to do in those freestyle battles , however he has this tape from back then that is also in a 80s style and really good
Infinite era Em is just Nas.
Yes, and AZ. But it was the basic standard for battle rap style tracks.
Big L would say s*** like "stick a crucifix between her legs before I shoot the b**** stiff in the head, grab the shotty of the ledge, catching bodies like a hobby before I'm dead". Like street/horrorcore s***.
While Em around 96 was on that "Lyrical acrobats got these battle cats mad and hysterical about my acid raps. Intimidate emcees when I levitate on beats." Like old school boom bap Nas/Rakim.
Eminem was a goat battle rapper in a movie lol
dude realy larped his way into being a legendary battle rapper Im dead asf
He didn’t even do nothing in them old battles lol mfs was just shocked to see a white boy that could rhyme so any above average bar popped off

Its because this is the first result on google, but people think they have no explaining to do
if you ever been on that website you know there is not one correct placement on any of their lists
