You keep bringing up the pitchfork store. Album got the score because it's a GOAT album. People regard it highly because it's a GOAT album. That's correlation not causation.
I am not denying its GOAT status, what I am implying is that score convinced a lot of people that its the best album of the decade because of that score. You can't tell me other wise it didn't matter because after that album Pitchfork was the standard for judging albums for years. It's easy to diminish their influence now because they are irrelevant years later.
MBDTF is phenomenal. KTT dissing TPAB by calling it critic bait for being an album to uplift an oppressed race when MBDTF was more intentionally made to try to impress critics and is considering the GOAT rap album here is funny.
love both tbh. Both masterpieces

You have it backwards though. You're right, Pitchfork gained that credibility and became the standard, because the masses agreed with the score.
GOOD Fridays were very listenable.
Ik yall caping for MBDTF but dont s*** on GOOD Fridays to do it lol
how in the world can someone love the GOOD Fridays but not mess with the album MBDTF?
Late Registration > MBDTF
won't object to that even though I think MBDTF is better I prefer listening to LR more

Good Fridays were raw and street and very clearly aimed at my demographic, 20 something black male who loves Hip Hop
MBDTF was made to win a Grammy. I dont give out Grammys so I'm thinking it wasnt made for me.

Idk man Dark Fantasy, Power, So Appalled, Monster, Gorgeous sounds pretty hiphop if you ask me.
I mean to be fair you're not the only one who happens to not love MBDTF.
All of the lights, LITW and Runaway are the only ones that could seem critic bait
really?
that's hard to imagine
yea im lying
It isnt better tho. LR is better produced and has the heart and soul MBDTF lacks.
It won the Best Rap Album Grammy that year too.
I guess Ye wanted that Best Album Grammy bad enough he made an album explicitly designed to win one.
Crazy how they snubbed him and didnt even nominate MBDTF for Album Of The Year
I’d delete this fast
7 pages in.
There might still be time

So Appalled, Monster and Gorgeous were for sure. That's why 2 of those 3 songs got leaked for GOOD Friday, for the streets.
It's a great album. I just think its overrated as far as Kanyes own discog is concerned.
And I liked Last Train To Paris more.
It's a preference thing at the end of the day

KTT on TPAB = A bunch of white kids living in the suburbs calling an album about oppression, insecurity, black history & culture critic bait:

I don’t think there’s much crossover between the TPAB haters and MBDTF
Could be wrong though

I think if it got a 8.5 (not my score) the masses would've been fine with that. Its the fact that it got a perfect 10 easily persuaded folks to think its the best of the decade, without necessarily judging the album for themselves. I was f*** Pitchfork then and was always against reviews. That 10 score was always the first argument people used when to discuss MBDTF.

I’m not denying the score added to the mythology. Don’t think it shaped perception as much as you say.
I was a fan of P4k then because it was an easy way to find new music and explore s*** outside of my zone in hip hop. S*** that’s where I first heard Cold War
this narrative has been gaining traction recently. i always knew ye would get hit with that revisionist history one day
he hasn't had a hit album in nearly 5 years and this generation is too "what have you don't for me lately?" to respect what his older music has accomplished just like eminem
DONDA better be the one or else niggas gonna start saying his first 3 aren't classics

Maybe not to the masses, but on KTT definitely
