Agree w everything here
Honestly Nevermind, More Life, Comeback Season and Care Package all personal classics though
Two of his early ones. You can pick the best introduction and the best refinement of who Drake is. Take Care and NWTS probably.
IYRTITL is the album for people who wish Drake was someone else. Me included
Honestly Nevermind, More Life, Comeback Season and Care Package all personal classics though
Controversial, but I hold big scorp in this regard too. Albums just full of hits and classics. Just not concise enough to fit the classic narrative.
I'm glad folks have gotten over the delusion from a few years back where they were trying to claim zero
I think he actually has four consecutive classics.. Take Care -> NWTS -> IYRTITL -> VIEWS. Most of his projects are 'personal classics' to me but I think those four are classics in a more overarching sense

I don’t think it’s a classic because of bloat to your point, but it may easily be my most memorable Drake album. Dropped right before my birthday, singles were ringing off literally all year, my last year of being a bachelor was going out every weekend to this s***, used to listen to it at my desk daily when I started in my career field that year just a lot of great things associated with it to me

When I think back on that era man… he was really handing out that belt when it came to dropping hits and doing insane numbers. 2018 drake might be peak honestly. Pair scorpion with the feature run he went on… it rivals his 2015 in my opinion
Idk I think IYRTITL is pretty solidified
It does have the ghostwriting stain on it though
I feel like IYRT would be a cult classic. It's certainly a classic for me. I think TC, SFG, FATD, Scorpion, IYRT, and Her Loss are all classics.
But you could find a large segment of people who'd feel otherwise.
I don't think no one seriously believes SFG and TC aren't classics at this point though.

Facts, More Life could’ve been Magnum Opus material if he cut it from 23 to like 19 (mostly cut the stuff he’s not on and you would be good)
All his s*** classics
But as far as universal goes it’s
Take Care
Nwts
Iyrtitl
And Views
CLB and Scorpion are to me as well but I understand if it’s not universal
Honorable mention SFG
Ngl WATTBA is arguable
Aging like fine wine, no skips
Flows brazy
Both Drizzy and Pluto in they primes
It took time to tell but I think it’s a better album than Her Loss both great though
That man Pluto said “I dropped a few whoopdywhoops in the cup” nigga is multiversally turnt

You forgot so far gone, the classic that made Cole and kendrick change and their gameplan

Facts also made him one of the biggest stars in rap history over night
Probably the biggest mixtape of all time in terms of commercial success and cultural impact
Also very few skips, 80-85% classic tracks, conservatively
Also correct me if I’m wrong but it was the first true hybrid Hip-Hop/Rnb project from an artist that is categorized as a rapper. There were plenty of hip-hop adjacent singers before Drake (R. Kelly, Aaliyah, Lauryn Hill, T-Pain, The-Dream, etc) and there were plenty of rappers who experimented with the occasional harmony (Ja Rule, Nelly, etc) and there were the rappers experimenting with autotune crooning (Ye, Wayne, etc) but I believe Drake was the first rapper to balance Hip-Hop and Rnb more or less evenly

I chose Take Care over it. As most people would

That's fine but it's his first classic without a doubt
