Pretty sure the only reason people calling Yeezus a classic is because it was peak KTT1, with the leak threads and hunting for the album and s***.... and the live performance of Black Skinhead and the amount of hype the album had

Musically, it’s not even close to a classic and pales in comparison to his true classic albums.

Even if they’re not all classics they’re all important in the bigger picture

I’m not even saying it’s bad or anything.

It just doesn’t deserve to put alongside MBDTF or CD

10 years from now, not a single person will be talking about or considering Yeezus a classic album. Nobody outside of this site talks about it today yet people still being up MBDTF and all of his first 3 albums.

I’m a big Kanye fan. I think a lot of it is recency bias.

Like if you’re 18-20 years old... you would’ve been like 2-6 years old when he dropped his first 3 albums lmao

Yet they would’ve been 12-16 when Yeezus dropped

Those people aren’t gonna have an emotional connection to CD, LR, Grad.... but they would for Yeezus

I’m old enough that I was in high school when he dropped CD... so I’ve been there for every Kanye album

what constitutes a classic then? How old you were when an album came out? How old were you when TCD came out?

No but you’re much more likely to call an album a classic if it released and you listened to it during your adolescence IMO

It’s your most impressionable age and you’re going to associate a lot of memories with it. You’re going to have an emotional attachment to it.
