i remember they got on ur head in that one thread for saying young niggas are going to go play Carti or some of them opium niggas before Drake

That’s cuz niggas took it as a personal slight and realize that we aging out of certain s***:

My little cousins who are all like 15-16 be listening to Veeze, Carti, Youngboy and them niggas

S*** shouldn’t have even been controversial

In many ways, celebrity culture it isn't what it used to be. Before the internet and paparazzi, celebrities existed in sort of their own dimension, separate from commoners. The only time they were seen were in performances which were almost exclusively an upper class experience, only time they were heard from was very scarce interviews, or quotes in papers, we knew virtually nothing about their personal lives or childhoods like we do with Wikipedia. Seeing them really did feel like seeing a star up close. Your average persons interest in them was also more balanced because we didn't have social media to keep tabs on their every action, or the opportunity to create an online persona that revolved around stanning and shilling them. You might say they were held to a higher standard.

yeah this sort of stuff is exactly why a MJ-tier musician/celebrity would never be reached again, obviously MJ’s fame and reputation was just a once in the lifetime type thing, but the conditions that allowed him to even get so global and awe inspiring like that no longer exist

Niggas saying celebrity culture dying out when Travis Scott doing s*** like this in 2024

    https://twitter.com/jmatt2703/status/1836072628781469825

And this is just Travis. Karol G just sold out 50+ stadiums a year after performing in ballrooms and theaters.

Here goes Argentina celebrating their entertainers winning a trophy (World Cup)

The most watched television broadcast in history every year is the Super Bowl halftime show this celebrity culture s*** is not going anywhere any time soon

I think it’s shifting from celebrity culture to more grassroots “regular” culture where people will follow more regular looking celebrities because they are more relatable opposed to the lavish lifestyle these current celebrities have

Yep. I would say treading that path to stardom is still an option, but most rising celebs these days opt to retain their everyman character. You gotta look the part you play. Carry yourself like an everyman, and you will be seen as an everyman celebrity. Carry yourself like a star, and you'll be seen as such.

Oldest Gen A is 10 and not active on social media yet outside of watching YouTube

i know wikipedia not the best source but they say it goes from 2010-2024, meaning they at least 14 and these the kids that grew up stuck to youtube/tik tok

  • Free YoungBoy

I’d argue it’s worse because nowadays they worship and stan regular hoes.

Lil Durk, Moneybag yo, and Lil Baby’s chicks all have fanbases and women who worship them

    That's a solid point

It seems like the love(obsession) is being more spread out as opposed to a very large majority of the attention being on someone like Michael Jackson. Celebrity worship definitely still exists.

Nah these are facts, there are so many vast subcultures now that there's an abundance of multimillionaire creators you probably will never hear of lmaoo

I think the difference is that it's all fragmented now. It makes sense looking at celeb culture this way

I was just using the context of celebrity culture dying. They have to gain new fans to maintain that level of fame and they have. The biggest streamer in the world who is a leader of Gen Z glazes Ronaldo to the point of addiction. This s*** not going anywhere lmao

Yeah I was going to say, spending hours arguing on behalf of a celebrity is a form of worship and a lot of us guilty of that on here tbh
