Don't be a riot tourist bro. If you gonna try and virtue signal online, stay your ass home. Not worth you getting shot and possibly killed for some clout.

Plus, if you going for the wrong reasons, people don't want you there lol. Just keeping it a stack

I live several hours from Minneapolis and really want to make the trip. Seeing this s*** happen so close to me makes me sick bro. Idk what to do.

I had a conversation with my professor and she thought that me risking catching a case basically and f***ing up my schooling is going to be worse for me than being out there. But I can't f***ing do what I want to do at home. Idk man, it's really s***ty to sit here and not try do something. Just feel torn. I gotta make a decision soon though cause sooner or later I have to start working and once that starts there isn't going to be any time for that

    You only live once.

In addition, you gotta look within yourself and ask yourself what you truly value.

Yeah man. My values all over the place bro. I always felt like saying f*** the system and using any opportunity to get back at them by being educated and giving back and help lift my family from poverty while trying to do activism later in life when I get myself straight.

I think at this point I have to wait and see. At the very least, I think I wanna gather some supplies and take it up for people who can protest and s***. I want to be involved but I don't wanna f*** up a lot of things for myself too. It's a weird balance and I know I have the privilege to go to school but I feel like I shouldn't squander that by f***ing myself up when a lot of people who look like me don't get that opportunity.

Imma think long and hard about it (I already have been) but ultimately I need to do something more. I have to, I can't sit around idle while people who look like me get executed publicly by the very people we are supposed to be protected by. This s*** gotta end.

went to the Chicago one, specifically around Dearborn and Wabash.

the main protest there was, for the most part, very chill until police started appearing and antagonizing protesters. there was looting and breaking into stores, but they were all big-brand corporations (since this is the Loop anyway) and were mostly away from the central protests.

afaik, they were trying to "trap" protesters in after I left to go home, pulling up the bridges and circling the main protests to make arrests. tear gas and rubber bullets started being used as me and my friend started heading out.

    f*** the CPD.

Ngl I wish these had a more organized point and message. If you read the signs held up most people seem to want the murderer to face time. He's gotten now. So it's like now what? What do we collectively want? Without the capital these riots are going to be used against us.

I would say if you're gonna go, make sure you wear a mask and wear some everyday clothes i.e. a simple hoodie and shorts. Went with a suit and mask cause I left right after work and it was a dangerous move looking back.

Take a friend with you and make sure you plan where to maneuver if cops are trying something. Also depends if your city puts out a curfew warning. Some Twitter accounts are also tweeting out police scanner convos constantly for specific cities so follow them if you're staying out late.

This is only amplified if you're black. Just use extra caution and make sure you're not doing anything antagonistic if you want to minimize risk of arrest. Stay a bit further back from the front line.

I understand people who don't want to be out there.

There's some places and states where it really is protesting.
Then there's other places where it's literally choas and anarchy with people setting fires, breaking into community stores and police shooting pellets.

I wouldn't be caught in that crowd.
