Am listening to the budden pod today and heard them bring up a really interesting point of Wayne's treatment at Universal to Drake's. Do you think industry wise Drake has recieved more benefits and favorability than an artist like Wayne, who is thought of as more of a thug then drake because of his skin color/background? Do you think Drake's good guy persona that he had early on made him more favorable to white label heads and garnered him special treatment?

Lightskin men/women will always benefit more. Don’t @ me. Even if Drake was “thugged” out like Wayne it still would’ve worked out for him.

This, but mainly for different reasons than what OP stated

Of course. Drake had it wayyy easier than several rappers. Let’s keep it a buck

Drake makes more mainstream-appealing music, doesn't really have to do with his appearance

I forget when specifically but Drake and Tez talked about it themselves during his TML era.

Around the time he got his face on a airplane

Colorism always factors in and drake was not making music that was anymore mainstream than his peers

Lil Wayne had dreads and tattoos on his face, other than obviously being darker than Drake so yes of course these higher ups would have treated him differently

also look at how their music is directed towards women.
Drake's is in a much more cleaner and respectable light

We aren’t talking about popularity, we’re talking about how the industry treated lil Wayne and Drake

    Then what's your reason

Being racially ambiguous is an advantage for example he wouldn't appeal to latinos near as much if he didn't look like he did
