Should I buy a 250ssd or 500ssd to hold my raw footage of music video?

  • Good question I wanted to know this as well

Or at least editing a music video... is 1TB good for doing projects like that?

Either one won’t be enough for all your projects. You’re gonna need more space eventually

But for 1 music video shoot holding the raw footage + edited video, is 250gb enough or 500 and more is needed

Record a 1 min video with whichever device you’re using and see how much memory it takes up. But I believe 250 is ample for 1 video.

The ssd will be separate from your main drive correct?

I’m just asking for when the team that records my video provides me with all the files I want to have enough space

So if the SSD is an additional drive or external, 250g should be fine.

Also, if you’re editing from a non-ssd then you can skip the ssd and go hdd and save some $$$

Depends on if they're shooting in 4K or not

Also are you putting the project file on there as well?

Def don't do the 250GB but I would look at 1TB as well

    3 min of 4K 30fps is 1gig. For a single project you’re suggesting 1TB?

Depends on how big the edit is going to be too.

Creating drafts of the video to be exported, Each take that could be x amount of time, any templates, effects, etc.

Maybe 1TB is too much but 250 is too small

    500 is a happy medium

Depends what camera you using. But I would get 500gb or even 1tb to be on the safe side

1tb is safe. Cus you don’t know how much footage you’ll collect and if you’ll need the SSD for future use to store more s***.

My first post clearly says that 250 and 500 are not enough. OP replies with, it’s for a single video. F*** off guys
