I had the same thought a few days ago. Had never heard of her before last week. She seems very talented & charismatic though.

To answer op I guess she comes from broadway/is signed to interscope/is promoting the new mean girls, has a big online fanbase. Seems like a pretty clear and obvious reason why she’s getting a look of looks atm

Funny enough I was having this convo this morning: Mean Girls is catapulting her, but she's had momentum and her album from last year made a lot of noise with pop fans even if not the charts yet.

I thought she did great on SNL last night and in Mean Girls. My gf is a theater head and she was explaining she's kind of having what sounds like a Fred again.. moment for Broadway: credibility within the genre and generally enjoyed by fans of it if not pissing off purists, but much more pop crossover potential than anyone else currently in that world.
