Let’s be honest..if KRIT was in the “Big 3” in 2024, this thread would be titled
“How the f*** did we let Big KRIT take a spot in the Big 3 when J. Cole was right there?”
Like..J. Cole is obviously a far above average rapper. We critique him so harshly BECAUSE he’s in the company of all time greats like Drake and Kendrick. No disrespect to Big KRIT — he is forever cemented as one of the hardest rappers of that era — but there’s a reason J. Cole is in the spot he is. It’s earned.
Like That is still >>> 7 Minute Drill
Only one rapper out of these 2 made a great response to ‘control’
Only one rapper out of these 2 renegaded Kendrick on the track they did together

People forget his name was literally right there with them
Drake
Kendrick
Cole
Travis
Future
ASAP Rocky
Big Sean
Meek Mill
Big Krit
Young Thug
The 2010s top 10
Hms to Mac Miller, Tyler the Creator, Schoolboy Q, Joey Badass, Lil Uzi Vert (debut a bit too late in the decade imo), Chief Keef (would be in top 10 if he did more in his youth & didnt self sabotage), Wiz Khalifa & Waka Flocka
Cant forget about the rappers that made a new era for themselves and were looked at like brand new artists 2Chainz, Pusha T, Gucci Mane, Lil B & Juicy J
Or the rappers that were still going such as Kanye, Rick Ross and Jay Z
But those hms and especially top 10 were generational talent - at least for my HS class of 2014 of the whole decade and i was outside super heavy
Also shout out Migos but thats a group
Krit was in my top 3 along with Kendrick & Rocky for most of the decade, wattba
Rap was perfect here
I don't think u can just say that when the mixtapes received the acclaim they did.
People wanted him to evolve his sound but cadillactica wasn't a good showing of that.
The same can be applied to people wanting cole to evolve his sound but kod wasn't a good showing of that either
We just disagree then dawg.
English class with your own thesaurus
Like one of these days I'm gonna be a rapper
But all my verses gonna be borrowed
So I'ma take from all these Southern artists
That mainstream never heard of
Recycle all of they lingo
And make sure I screw my words up
Bravo for your swagger-jackin'
I'm overwhelmed by your dedication
You actually fooled these people into thinkin'
That your music was innovative
NIGGA WAS TALKING TO EM. 😤😤😤😤
Always funny to see people trying to re-write history and come up with the wildest most delusional statements just to avoid giving Cole his props.

Def Jam sabotaged that man career.
Signing with a label and then 2 weeks later the whole building/staff changes so the people that supported you aren’t even there to back you, HURTS you dawg.
Ima tell yall niggas what happened (and @Kdogone you can eat a d*** for that lil snarky comment bro. I got an ipod classic with all krit mixtapes up to it’s better that way that niggas almost got kicked out of class in hs for listening to. Niggas bought live from the underground, cadillactica and krit wuz here when buying on itunes still meant something.)
A goat mixtape run to an underwhelming album (live from the underground) that def jam f***ed over from sample clearance issues (bro had to remake samples, remove songs, some features he couldn’t get, etc.) to mad delays (Money On the Floor single drops october 2011, it takes 8 months for the damn album to drop. That’s a lonnng time even back then for rappers to promote a project. The label was putting all they priority onto kanye then)
However the funny thing was the narrative around the time was “lol krit should rap on different production all his s*** sound the same”
So then we got Cadillactica, literally a new style with hella new production (including f***ing DAHI and raphael saddiq for damn sake)

Why the reason? Beats me. Does jay z backing cole up help way more than krit signing to def jam at one of the worst times to sign there? Beats me.
K.R.I.T. a prime example of what happens when labels dont know how to manage an artist.
also paper bag test was in effect but even cole said in an article he does benefit off that lol
Cadillactica is so f***ing hard, amazing album
His best 2 albums are cadillactica and. 4eva is a mighty long time
His main 4 mixtapes: Krit wuz here, return of 4eva, 4eva n a day, king remembered in time
DISCLAIMER: do NOT play the streaming versions. All 4 of these mixtapes got DESTROYED via sample clearances and sound horrible now. Listen to the original mixtape versions on youtube
yeah what they did to krit wuz here should be illegal
@insertcoolnamehere too real
@insertcoolnamehere too real
I pride myself on being level headed on most artists and not stan (besides like a badu or a D’Angelo obviously but who hates them) most niggas.
KRIT different. As a southern nigga that dude was like a f***ing hero bro.
Thinking bout his career gets me angry dawg lmaooooo.

Fuck faking, f*** pretending like you know my story
Or what it's like to be mistaken as a basic
Country bumpkin, watermelon
Chicken-eatin', collard greens
Neckbone chillin' motherfucker
We're the butt of all jokes grew up here
And we'll show you have no clue of what it's like to be southern
CHILLS.
F***ING CHILLS.
its crazy how bro has two hour+ mixtapes that contain NO bad tracks
every time im putting on Return of 4eva or Krit Wuz Here I lowkey think 'maybe I just got too excited last time' but nah they slap all the way through EVERY single time
Never leaned into the southern rap tropes of the time (2010-2012) so he never had the grassroots foundation in the traps/strip clubs/etc you need to be taken serious as a southern rapper on a mainstream level. You gotta be a minstrel show or a kingpin to make it super big as a southern rapper in the post Gucci/Jeezy/Boosie era
A tape or two leaning into the typical s*** from the time (Photoshop covers and certain producers/features/videographers and linking with the right djs) and it’s different for him. Same to a lesser extent with Bob who tried to make the pivot a little late tho right before he got on the flat earth s***

Friday Night Lights exists because Cole couldn’t get off the shelf and be supported by his label forcing him to sacrifice album records. Execs were taking bets on how bad his first album would flop. Work Out didn’t even take off until the album was already out. The album was under shipped. Cole was screwed over by his label too he just built a big enough fanbase he succeeded in spite of it. Is it any snarkier than most KRIT threads turning into using KRIT to discredit Cole and his come up story?
No way he posted big S.H.I.T.
this comment just solidified that your opinion on rap isnt valid at all. from all the overrtated names over the years you choose to s*** on krit
really dude?
Cole however has earned his spot in the BIG 3 though. Mfs been on a crusade to s*** on Cole since FNL.

there is not one single song in Cole's discography with this much soul and genuine passion about what's been said on the beat.
i miss krit's realness and good spirits without selfish intentions to get numbers up
also this krit's appreciation thread now
Name me a rapper who went double plat wit no features
