Ppl say they miss the old ye then completely ignore when we get fed. It’s got all the makings of a ye classic: a dope ass sample, cool hook, bars and flow (sounds like he actually tried on this one and didn’t just phone it in like most stuff post tlop), and a fire outro. And yet it’s gotta be the most overlooked song on donna. Wtf is up
even though i love it the monologue kinda kills the hit potential
Okay
I didn't draw a fit when you said you wanted to leave
The interlude takes up like a quarter of the song and kills any hit potential.
Too easily fooled so easily deceived
By some dude whose more rather into greed
You say that I lie, how did I?
And you say you care? You think you got me? No.
My back ain't against the wall.
Also people dont really care about the "old Kanye", they just wanna be able to continue to b**** and s*** on Ye without looking like haters. Those same people have probably been hating since 808s.
bc the interlude
It’s a trash song.

people don't really care as much as they say. at the end of the day people just want their average hit formula. BWIS isn't much of that in 2021
people are making a good point with the interlude but i haven't seen any part of the song really hyped. take it out and i still doubt it'd make much noise
its also not positioned well on the tracklist. easier to just go to Hurricane as the hit

not sayin he should've
but if he replaced that section with a trav verse it'd be one of the most popular on the album
the lyrics are too weak and that approach only works for basic stuff like off the grid or hurricane. he didn’t match the vibe that’s all

Yall really care about hit potential like that
Yall really care about hit potential like that
I dont care if its a hit or not, i'm just saying what it is. Having that interlude takes it from a potential single to a deep cut.
1. wasnt released as a single or promoted properly
2. is pretty deep in the album and only consumed by people who are listening to kanye like that (ie. not the kind of people who will make it a hit)
3. the spoken word at the end, couldve been chopped for a radio edit which brings me back to point 1
4. its probably a bit old school by today’s standards
