i've deleted the apps (YouTube, IG, etc.) off my phone. Yet, I'm still super addicted to randomly searching ideas up and going on a reddit rabbithole.
i want to replace it with figuring out my career and reading, but it's still mad difficult. any suggestions on how to truly stop it?
can you even list the steps you are taking to achieve the career and reading goals
Read more. and dont read mindless s***, read classics, read something that you can actually engage with. reading things that require concerted effort and time will fix your attention span

i try to read a little at night. like 5 - 15 minutes.
career goals are at standstill cause i don't know where i want my career to go tbh

any recs? i was thinking of reading the Power of Now (not a classic, but heard it's good), but i'm down for anything
ASMR helps for me. Liquid s*** and tapping and scratching. Helps with focus.
Any chance u have ADHD?

reading dostoevsky might be good for you; his novels are very readable and offer a good perspective on religion/spirituality and the importance of connections to others. i would advise reading something like that over eckhart tolle
What is doomscrolling to you? Because it’s not thinking of questions and then googling them

there’s nothing more educational and valuable than reading ktt, ig, twitters posts

well, i search up an idea or question i have, find a reddit thread, explore that subreddit, and then get deeper into what's going on with the topic at hand.
example:
1. search up replacing pedals on a bike
2. find subreddit about it
3. see recs on good pedals
4. search up the pedals
5. go back to the thread for more ideas + other things about bikes
6. ~30 min to an hour is lost on random bike improvements

Are you planning on replacing the pedals on your bike? This sounds far more productive than replacing it with 30 mins to an hour of reading Ekhart Tolle
just go outside

in the future, but not now.
is Eckhart Tolle that bad?

Not any worse than most notable self help people. I don’t think you need to feel super guilty about looking up semi-helpful s***
Anyway doomscrolling is when you obsess over looking up news/posts that make you feel bad. Like if you were spending every night following a bot that tweeted out details of random school shootings, thats doomscrolling
which dostoevsky novel should i start with?
crime and punishment is what i started with, as it gives a good overview of his personal philosophy while also delivering an engaging story

that's not what doomscrolling is though
