Lets say hypothetically i wanna start torrenting movies, what exactly do i need and what is the best and safest method?

Again, this is just hypothetically. Im writing a screenplay about this and need very precise information :)

seedbox and private trackers. private trackers are safer but also have very old uploads with steady seeds. it's harder to find older films that might be a shoddy rips on open trackers with seeders.

they download the torrent and give you a dl so you can download it without seeding (so you're not breaking the law)

I mean... it's still illegal probably but in my country the laws are "you can download movies you cannot share them"

maybe it’s because i don’t have access to private trackers and i’m still using rarbg and s*** but anytime i try and find a tv show or movie i used to be able download easily back then (outside the super popular ones) it’s like pulling teeth

hmmm im not on private ones tbh but i can navigate easily to find anything with the r/privacy megathread,they got all the safe websites so i just check every site if i cant find something on rarbg

Use a VPN with a kill switch

I use Transmission and made my own switch with a script you can find VPNs that come with kill switches tho

can get like that; private trackers are tough to get into, im in barely any. rarbg,zooqle,torrentleach my go to sites. but then i very rarely need something niche
