the issue for me also is so many of the new guys are in this all i can describe is pop rap because their lanes dont rly exist yet
for example like, where tf would the hardstyle guys like rocket reese fit here? Len barely fits in the UK thing cuz he makes distinctly poppy s***, thirteendegrees only fits kinda in cloud rap revival cuz of his latest project but hes kinda his whole own thing
The Names - artists who have fallen off in some capacity but retain permanent A-list name recognition in rap and thus will continue to linger and often accept literally any promo, deal or sponsorship you can offer them
Current roster: Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne, TI, Rick Ross (application denied) who else?
i dont think we need to do that
it would be fun idk
i was having a discussion w someone saying that now its like 3 archetypes and it made me think how id acc divide it cuz theres so many ppl that are like their own thing

Add Eminem after that Kid Rock thread

people who make music that wouldn’t exist without wlr yeat and/or ctm 808
people who only have viable rap careers because triplet flows and trap drums are the dominant stylistic choice for going on 16-17 years
people who don’t wanna rap on the above s*** i named so they rap on drumless or Alc adjacent s***
lucki and veeze who are in the second category but did it so well it created a new subgenre of rap
earl niontay mike nem who mostly used to be in third category but now taking cues from the lucki veeze category below it because third category meta has become too uncool to niggas under 27 lol

ehhh imo this is a simplification tho like the whole UK isnt covered by this, neither is the DMV scene which has 0 carti influence, the ambient guys, most of the cloud rap revival guys, matt proxy, ghais guevara, thirteendegrees
the rage guys also u cant rly attribute all of that to carti or wlr it comes from a lineage before them carti is given way too much credit here lol like we r tlaking the lineage of thouxanbanfauni, unotheactivist, duwap kaine, pluggnb, etc etc carti is just a part of that. Esp the digicore guys cuz digicore has its whole own lineage tied to hyperpop
like the uk itself is outside of this, jim legxacy clearly takes a lot from a mix of ukg, grime flows, jerk, road rap, afrobeat. and late 10s melodic stuff
fakemink takes from dean blunt, early drake, road, cloud rap, xaviersobased
kibo takes from grime a lot, dubstep, ukg
xav takes from like lil b, mid 10s jerk, hyphy, sgp, duwap kaine, hi-c and RCB
Len takes from pop rap, the afroswing uk movement and like a lot of local nigerian and carribean dance music with hints of s*** like jerk
YT loves bop music, future swag, jerk hyphy s***, soulja boy
drumless is kind of a dead subgenre rn if someone is doing more lyrical s*** its either in an abstract, experimental, or live band vein i believe
a lot of it i think is a mix of niche interests and subgenres with things outside rap esp forms of electronic influence. For the UK esp.

this still isn't quite accurate because these aren't really categorize by sub genre which i think would be easier imo

Len got that s***

true although there’s sm stuff that’s subgenre either doesn’t exist or is kinda vague or a mix is the problem for me
Like what subgenre is Thirteendegrees, Len, xav, sideshow, pink siifu etc? Most ppl here don’t properly align in a subgenre or throwing them in the same bucket as others in the subgenre would not be a proper pocture
