  • See a lot of complaining but not a lot of vision

I live in the Uk and i would:

-tax land value to hit landlords
-reduce planning regulation for new homes
    -build social housing in bulk
-More regional power outside of london
-bring the scots and welsh back on side

    • legalise d****, free and expunge people in on d*** charges
-treat addiction as a health problem
-increase spending but also reform the healthcare to be faster and more efficient
-create an area of free movement with canada, new zealand and australia
-Bodycam every police officer, and increase the number of minority officers

I wouldnt do full socialism as its bullshit, i'd instead try to copy sweden

tax land will force some people who are richer in land than revenues to sell their property it can be unfair. Unless you mean only owners that make money off of their land?

Interesting thread, wish it got more traction, currently in Canada a big problem is the housing market in Toronto, and Vancouver, part of the problem being Chinese investors, I guess by banning foreign investors would help

    • institute universal pre-k
    • copy germany's health care system (shamelessly at that)
    • institute carbon tax
    • ban on astrology
    • occupational licensing reform

and a whole lot more, but this is off the top of my head

most of my issues with in sydney are

    • They need to fix the public transport its not very good and which has lead to many of major roads always being busy. A upgrade in public transport will make it easier for residents and tourists to move around the city. Its bit of a joke things like sporting stadiums and beaches are hard to access without a car
    • Decriminalisation of d**** is obvs one and legalisation of weed
    • Start actually funding Unis without support with CCP, the government has deeply underfunded them which has led to criticising the CCP at unis very hard and now with lack international students many unis had to drop many experienced professors
    • Move away from gas lead to renewables over time
    • This maybe but if people willing to give some land i feel a bullet train around major cities and towns in my state will lead to many people not feeling they have to live here and i would personally move out a regional town if that means i could access sydney in matter of 1 - 3 hours. This will also mean huge growth in these towns through tourism and supporting business across the state
    • I would like to see the private option for health care scrapped entirely
    • The removal of private and religious schools and making everyone go to their local high school and will be funded equally per area
    • Invest in the arts which have became grossly underfunded and has lead to the city feeling more dead
    • A media law which stops anyone in creating a monopoly so we have fair set of laws
    • Take money out of politics

Think thats its don't really have issue with tax laws right now or immigration

  • Nov 23, 2020

and also public housing is important also but my plan with bullet train will i think will fix the problem of the housing market

that increases supply of land and lowers cost overall

Land isnt the same as property btw

Some policies I would like to see, although a lot of these ultimately are decided at the local level:

Investment in especially urban transit, I would like to see better intercity transit but it's not as urgent

Reduce cost of living and improve quality of life by allowing for more housing to be built in walkable neighborhoods and by focusing development and housing on the urban core (in a broad sense, not just downtown) rather than suburbs

Also I would like to see rural areas revitalized

In terms of education, put more funding and focus on improving elementary school education for all

More useful physical education, life skills, and personal finance classes in school

Also I would increase the size of the House of Representatives and try to lower/limit the power of the President

Private schools are a necessary evil imo, if they dont exist, the rich will send their kids overseas where they will get even further out of touch

Thing that's the biggest part really, agree on faith schools. Dont @ me I went to a state school I'm just weary of unintended consequences

i don't fully agree with that see Finland having everyone together doesn't economic situation

my idea is in over generation of high public quality education that all major areas in each city will be well educated resulting in higher wealth across the board meaning their won't be such big inequality

  • Nov 24, 2020

this will also improve art with people having more wealth meaning their more likely to spend their time not worried about putting food on the table or paying bills more they will be able explore their creative ambitions

it'd take forever to write and be pretty variable depending on context, so i'll just write out what the goals would be:

    1) decouple political institutions from culture in order to ensure policy is not created or affected by ephemeral cultural bias
    2) create greatly significant, broad, and holistic irrevocable safety nets, but at the same time create harsher punishments in spite of this
    3) de-industrialization and a strong focus on revitalization of smaller communities, simultaneously lessening burdens on cities so they themselves can loosen budget and de-centralize populations
    4) better refined leveled systems which returns more power to local and state governments in better local/federal distributions ; federal level policy should be abstract at best and should be therefore in the implementable capability of local people. this would also prevent issues which currently exist in things such as policing.anything which involves funding should be restructured in leveled approvals and percentages. - the federal government should ensure safety nets and more abstract rights while local governments enforce anything which could be understood as effecting daily lives or cultural discussions.
    5) encourage greater opportunities and incentives for blue collar as well as skilled labor backed by safety nets; de-incentivize PMC and "bullshit" jobs for jobs which legitimately help the country, such as infrastructure.
    6) strong regulations and break-ups targeted to disenfranchise banks and big businesses headed by regulatory measures against banks/businesses which tread on individual rights
    7) increased incentives and support for local, small businesses and harsher, stricter regulations on conglomerates
    8) better environmental protections, including re-instating laws allowing courts to hear cases of lawsuits toward each other for pollution provided such suits aren't frivolous
    9) reinstatement of fairness doctrines for certain sized media w/ heavier punishments alongside other laws aimed at restricting the influence of money and organizations directly or indirectly on politics

    im probably missing a few

Fund fully into technology and AI so we can replace all blue collar and low wage labor with robots. Also replace the government with robots that can make unbiased decisions for the betterment of the Majority that don’t factor lobbying or paid interests into it at all.

Deport all workers that aren’t able to pull their weight financially and only accept immigration by application if they can do a certain job well that is required

End welfare and other social programs so we can instead focus on roads/infrastructure/quality of life/ technological advancements and the military.
