A good chunk of Bernie voters went for trump. they just wanted a left field guy and didn’t really care about the policies and s***

    lol what. not true

same amount of bernie voters voted trump as clinton voters that voted mccain. theres always ~8% of primary voters that vote opposite party

Haven't been following but election is in 2 more years. Y'all think he's gonna campaign for Kemp.

I understand working with him since he's the governor. Would be crazy if after everything he turns on him to support Stacey. If she looses again he'll loose the republican ear

I don't have the time to fully articulate it right now, but I think there's a conversation to be had here about how more Black people than we sometimes realize are small 'c' conservatives who happen to align with left views on certain issues

  • Oct 27, 2022

The author is crazy for wording the headline like that. It's the huff post. They gon read that s***

the certain issue is really being Black lol

all ethnic groups, or even other identity groups like gay people, contain small 'c' conservatives

but because Black people, with their understandable distrust of the Republican Party, are the group who votes most strongly as a bloc for Democrats (85-95% depending on the election; even gays are more likely to vote Republican), you're going to see a lot of conservative-minded Black people simplistically lumped in with liberalism when on many non-racial issues, they aren't liberal at all

Very true, when it comes to non-racial issues, that's when you see the small 'c' conservative jump out. Especially in older folks

    lol what. not true

i agree with you partially, but Clinton-McCain voters is not the best example because that year there was a huge controversy about a portion of Clinton primary voters loudly declaring Obama was an opp; this and the whole Sanders-Clinton debacle are probably the two most prominent examples of a primary being so contentious that people find it hard to set their hate aside for the general

i know my mom, a lifelong Democrat, sat out the election bc she was salty that Hillary lost (which she is now ashamed of doing, lol)

With Hillary, the big stink was Democrats who just resented Obama, whereas @DiorRunners is correct that the "Sanders-Trump" voter, while not necessarily "a good chunk" of his supporters, wasn't a leftist who hated neoliberalism so much they voted for Trump out of spite but rather a right-of-center Obama hater who never would have voted for HillDawg anyway

    centerforpolitics.org/crystalball/articles/did-bernie-sanders-cost-hillary-clinton-the-presidency

"The data bear this out. The Sanders-Trump voters didn’t self-identify much as Democrats, had approval ratings for President Obama of 23% (perhaps he’d be a better scapegoat for Clinton among this subset of voters) and were less likely to believe that white people have certain advantages in the United States. This doesn’t sound like people who were part of the Obama coalition, nor would they have backed Clinton against Trump in most instances. To be clear, there are some people in this group of voters who might have voted for Clinton if not for the Sanders campaign, but they are the vast minority, and you should be wary of anyone arguing otherwise."

Compare to 2008, where the "PUMAs" were presented as disaffected Hillary Democrats who resented Obama for beating their girl:

    huffpost.com/entry/hell-no-puma-spokesman-wi_b_108581

"People have been trying to paint this as a Trojan horse, you know, as though I'm a Republican, that this is a Republican strategy... No, that's not it at all. From dog-catcher to president, I've voted Democrat. I'm all Democrat. I was a youth volunteer for Dukakis. I protested in 2000 -- was absolutely out on the streets in L.A. for the Bush-Gore decision. I was a volunteer for Wesley Clark."

and indeed, a quarter of 2008 Hillary voters either voted for McCain or didn't vote (like my mom lol)

whereas i think 2016 Hillary voters were clearly wrong in blaming "Bernie supporters" since the data shows that the actual left-wing Bernie voters begrudgingly voted Hillary and the Reagan Democrats who voted Bernie because of their dislike of Hillary were the majority of the Bernie voters who mostly voted Trump or stayed home

tl;dr, Hillary voters are always salty, aren't they?

  • Republicans are often pretty upfront about how they don’t care that black Americans face inequity and just want them to tough it out. Democrats do this thing where they pay lip service to blacks but treat them like their funny little pet, god forbid Killer Mike have some kind of idiosyncratic stance that doesn’t tow the party line and Stacey Abrams b**** ass lying about election fraud.

  • Oct 27, 2022

Knew Killer Mike was a lame after he was advocating for the NRA.

  • Oct 27, 2022

Ahh an "opinion piece" from someone who's not even from Georgia and is nothing more than team politics and has the tried and true vote for Stacey Abrams because she's black and Killer Mike is black..

You don't need to agree with Mike but at least stands by what he believes in.

  • Big Boi is super MAGA as well
