I lowkey think Ye just wanted to avoid the MBDTF comparisons all his albums be different.
I can’t say which Yeezus is better cuz there’s improvements on both albums
I get this aesthetically but the music is lowkey different enough to be seen as a departure even in this form.
Also I can’t help but wonder if that’s kind of overthinking the art, like let it be what it’s supposed to be. The themes come through so much stronger on this one and I think the d*** theme shouldn’t have been abandoned. It gives the album depth where the final version can kind of feel a little shallow and goofy with its focus on the “Yeezus” thing without the same focus on d**** and religion and sanity coming through as strong to be the backdrop for Ye’s personality
The second verse on I Am A God should’ve built on this ref instead of the dumb what up Yeezus verse, that’s for sure. This ref about popping a pill or whatever was sick.
Why does his voice and delivery on water remix sound so good
the way his raps pan out recently makes no sense
Yea he was on his MBDTF flow on this verse
If we didn't already know I'd say what the f*** is wrong with this man for not releasing JIIK
i said this in the other thread but compare the new verses in this (from 2020) to the actual stuff that was released in 2020 where it sounded like he had never rapped before in his life.
it's f***ing baffling.
it seems like in the music that was released in 2020, he for whatever reason kept his "demo" verses of the song, never re-recorded it to clean them up. and in those sessions, he was obviously just waffling trying to find the beat and it sounded very awkward. but then he keeps that s*** on the released version

the weird part is, even the finished songs he's done this decade still sound nothing like his MBDTF era verses. he sounds more low energy and his voice sounds scratchier, like it's the result of physical aging, but i guess it's more a byproduct of kanye recording his verses on the spot with no preparation beforehand. obviously as a perfectionist dre isn't having that, so i guess he got kanye in the recording booth himself and made sure his delivery was perfect before he considered the verses done.
