I will never understand the success of this song and I've said that for years, so don't bother trying to twist it into something it aint. LOVE. should've gotten the numbers this one did.

TPAB was a left-field, less radio friendly album.
2 years later he drops this, a commercially friendly (prime Mike Will beat which was super popular during those times) first album single. An iconic music video to match and the fact aside from an earworm type beat, its also full of quotables in each verse and an easy hook
Hope that helps

LOVE. is a pretty big song in its own right to be fair
I really love this song
Maybe its bc I don’t listen to radio so its not overplayed for me but this song really goes crazy to me. It’s so catchy and his flows and cadences throughout are fun and i love the energy it brings to a DAMN. full listen. I think it will go down as Kendrick’s most iconic single
classic song, will never forget waking up to the music video dropping

The Heart Part 4 had people ready for Kendrick’s next move coupled with the song being catchy and easy for people to sing along to plus Mike Will showed up

Still doesn't sound good so none of that really matters. The chorus is annoying and the verses aren't anything to write home about. Only place I didn't mind listening to it was at a club. Never felt the urge to listen to it in any other setting
So many moments and fx in this video been copied since
gif in OP immortalized by p**** bacon
humble in my opinion is overplayed but I still think its a good song and it was a big moment when it dropped too

Pretty much can’t enjoy it casually anymore but loved it when it came out and played It to death. One of the best videos of the last decade tho so he deserves the billy
