I was talking about the quantity of story developed, NOT the quality.

HxH started serializing in 98 - only one year after One Piece, and yet one of them has 37 volumes and the other has over 100.

Oh that. Well, for what its worth i think togashi even without back problems would have stopped before reaching 1k vhapters. One piece is an anomaly, not the standard

We dont know how close we are to the ending. Technically togashi considers Ep 148 of the anime to be the actual ending with later parts being extra content. The arc is amazing but you'll have to read It through a bunch of time cause its very complex, lots of names, factions, little wars going on

In an interview some years ago. I dont know if he really thinks that or if it was a way to get people to read it even if it isnt over yet, but i can see why he would say that. It does feels like an ending for sure, since the protagonist's journey ends there. But its a bit more complicated than that, because you'll end up with some characters being unresolved until you read whats happening after ep 148. But still, you'll get plenty even if you watch the anime only and then eventually wait for the manga to end

Very interesting. I kinda expected all the main stories to get wrapped up, then 1 extra arc at the end but I guess it makes sense they’re not doing that

Once this arc is done they'll probably have a 30/40 episode anime in their hands, but It depends when, although i dont think we're too far from the next arc now
