Eh, If I remember correctly, Gon isn't even featured much if at all in the later chapters after the series ended. So the reasonining of giving Gon a proper "send off" doesn't make sense to me unless they do filler. . .

I think after this hiatus whenever it ends the series will wrap up quickly. He knows his time is limited and I doubt he wants to leave this unended. And his wife is already supposedly drawing it so chapters should come out quick as illustration is supposedly the reason for the hiatus’s in the first place

Honestly the most likely outcome is probably going to be that he will wrap up this arc revolving around Kurapika, leorio , Hisoka and the Spiders and thats about it.

Technically Kilua and Gon‘s character arc are concluded pretty nicely so I wouldnt even mind not seeing much of them again.
