Got my license back in October. Sold 2 houses so far. I’m Hispanic so I’m expected to be bilingual in Spanish and English. But the thing is I’m not 100% fluent in Spanish. Lowkey embarrasses me that I can’t really hold a conversation when I’m communicating with Spanish speaking individuals. And the fact that I can’t speak Spanish properly is preventing me from listing properties and put my realtor sign up on properties. I don’t want someone to call my cell and speak Spanish and I can’t answer their questions correctly and literally scare them off only for them to say bad things about me to the Spanish community. I want to improve on speaking Spanish. What can I do? I want to help the Spanish community buy their dream house and whatnot. I believe if I fix this problem that I will become successful in my area. Thanks KTT.
i would try and at least look for self taught language programs like rosetta stone. at least to start, especially if you want to accessible to the spanish community
or at the bare minimum you can just seem very open and available to help, and use real time google translation when communicating with them in person
Sounds like you know some spanish? Hire a private tutor. There's a few sites that have great options for reasonable prices. Pick one who has actual credentials and then work with them on learning things that are directly related to the type of convos you have when you're working as a realtor. Don't use an app or s*** like that you need to learn this stuff ASAP so private tutor is 100% the way to go. Do like 3 sessions a week and make sure they give you a bit of work to do on your off days.
Well if u sold houses already
And since u know spanish a little but not at convo level like you said
You can figure that out like some posts said
You're already at an advantage for already knowing a little something already
private tutor is a good idea but the best way to learn a language is through immersion.
I recommend, if you have the time and money, to go to Mexico for a month and take intensive Spanish classes 4-5 hours a day while living with a Mexican family. I bet you can get a good deal now because of the pandemic
it will be an amazing experience and I'm sure you'd come back with near fluent spanish skills and the confidence to work with spanish speaking customers
Knowing less Spanish than people expect you to is a highkey embarrassing part of being Hispanic
