Bundles are one of the only ways most artists can get pure sales when there's no reason to purchase physical albums for most consumers.

They also show how dedicated a fanbase an artist has, which is what album sales traditionally showed. Like that DJ Khaled album vs IGOR. Tyler could sell bundles with IGOR because he actually has a dedicated fanbase that would buy his merch. Khaled had bundles too, but nobody bought them because there is no such thing as a DJ Khaled fan.

If the Weeknd can get people to pay $18 for an After Hours themed lollipop, or Travis can get people to buy his Jackboys barf bag, they deserve the sale

The only people who care are bitter stans that argue about first week sales on twitter and ktt

Meanwhile fans either don’t care or they’re happy to get some merch

    Merch =/= music

If Kanye attached a CD to every Yeezy sale, his music would do numbers but no one is buying it because of the music

This is true for Kanye, but people generally buy merch for most artists because they're fans of the artist/music.

Only other artist that might be true for is Rocky maybe

Put it this way, would the fan buy the bundle for the same price if the music wasn’t included?

Feel like 99% of the time the answer is yes

    So that’s scamming music sales

    You’re right

But they’re not buying it in order to get the music either

They’re buying it bc of the brand

    billboard is cool with it
    labels are cool with it
    executives are cool with it
    artists are cool with it

only people who actually have a problem are the ones who don’t get paid (ironic!)

Probably true, but it still shows that the artist has fans they can sell their stuff too.

Tbh a significant portion of people buying vinyls are probably buying them as decoration

    Right

I could be wrong but I don’t think vinyls count towards album sales

Ktt only cares when artists they don’t like do s*** like this

For example they’ll whine about travis bundles but are conveniently silent when uzi releases the exact same album except one has another album attached to it two weekends in a row

Isn't the problem more with quantity of bundles, I don't think artists used to have so much quantities/products of merch like we are seeing the Abel sell but I could be wrong

The fan would buy the merch no bundle for the same price, but less fans would actually buy the merch. Since streaming took away the need to actually buy an album, the bundle lets you get something out of buying the album. Instead of needlessly buying an album on itunes when they are just gonna stream it on spotify or am, they get a shirt with it. Definitely leads to more merch sales AND more album sales.

    That's crazy if they don't

I'm pretty sure Abbey Road sells like 300k vinyls per year
