🚨 🚨 i did this thread in Video Game sxn but thought it would also be good in Life sxn 🚨 🚨

For those that dont know, Ubisoft has made the AC game with two samurai chars one of them being the historical figure Yasuke, a black man. And iirc he was the only ever black slave in Japan because Japan is very isolated and didnt have any foreigners on its mainline island outside of China and Korea.

Yasuke was a slave bought by Nobunaga, leader of Japan at the time hundreds of years ago. Then he made Yasuke one of his personal close bodyguards, taught him basic Samurai stuff & he also did tasks and carried stuff for Nobunaga like a secretary. He was also not in chains and wasnt a slave in the American sense, although still techincally owned, and was able to move about on his own like a normal citizen.

Nobunaga is an important figure that brought Japan under one empire (and why Japan is as one today) and he was very idealistic and charitable until he got older and way more ruthless and basically became an a****** in his later years of ruling. He is a literal char in many Japanese games, or a char is usually named as him in games and anime as an anti hero or like a Sasuke/Hiei type char.

Now, Yasuke, he wasnt a full fledged samurai nor was he doing literal samurai combat on the regular, but AC is making the char bigger than what is told in history. The series is historical fiction after all. And has done this before with main & side characters.

So, what is the big deal im alluding too? Well, the "gamers", have had a big s***fit over it. Saying its not historically accurate & that its "woke" propanganda. Which is beyond ignorant not only in the racist sense, but also AC has always had mainly fictional and fantastical elements not only places but also chars including the main chars like of Black Flag and Origins. This is nothing new.

They threw a s***fit so big that Ubisoft has now APOLOGIZED with a big newsletter online and said they didnt mean to offend Japan?? And it become mainstream news outside of the gaming space, while also being used as a culture war pawn.

Japan has museums toward Yusuke, they have animes about Yusuke, he is in Japan video games as chars playable and npcs or they will name a main black dude Yusuke. All of them make him a more fullfledged Samurai/warrior then what he was in reality. And its actually one of the things that has always made Japan so interested in black culture and black people than any other culture because its tied to their most notorious and biggest Japan leader AND its the very first real foreigner they ever saw on mainland that isnt from China or Korea.

The Gamers are arguing its not in modern games or media so maybe Japan doesnt do that anymore. Wrong, Yusuke is literally one of the final bosses in Nioh for example with a Bear as his Nioh animal spirit dressed in traditional African tribe clothing, and later he defects from Nobunaga in Nioh when Nobunaga goes into his crazy era and tells the main char about it before he succums to fatal wounds from Nobunaga. And Yusuke has been a name or literal char in other JRPGs and Action games.

I do not understand why this is a major issue outside of the obvious racism. The Gamers are literally lying about his fame (they claim hes a non famous figure that "just carried swords like a pack mule") & are literally lying about his inclusions in modern day Japan media.

And besides, even if all of that wasnt true, who still cares anyways. AC has put in and even took out things for fantasy of history and/or things that might be more controversial like Slaves.

Ubisoft I am even madder at for apologizing. There is nothing to apologize for. As usual, this company is spineless and terrible. If they just ignored them it wouldnt have mattered and the upcoming AC game would sell fine like usual. Maybe not the hightest selling one but it would have been decent still.

And also, its not like you can take the char out and redo the literal whole game. It is what it is and there is no patch that could ever edit or change that fact - it is the literal game and it is what it is.

Anyways, this s*** pisses me off towards Ubisoft, and makes me even more digusted towards the online "Gamers™ " culture and how they are now just blatantly lying even in essay videos. I had to get this out somewhere since I am not a youtuber.

I will never support Ubisoft. I already dont outside of The Crew 2. But my 95 percent just went up to 100 percent.

Thank you for reading my TedTalk script

F*** Ubisoft and everybody that love them.

Heres the Yasuke boss fight in Nioh 1:

Nioh 1 and 2, very japanese games made by the Ninja Gaiden company, are some of my fav games from the PS4 of all time and why this "controversy" also bothered me. Nioh is like Ninja Gaiden x Dark Souls.

Nioh 1 is an example (along with Tsushima) the "Gamers" are using as an example of "not using Yasuke", when Nioh 1 DOES LMAO.

It is literally a blatant and malicious lie.

Ubisoft apologizing to "Japanese fans" and these so called Japanese fans pretty much all turn out to be 30 year old American or British larpers posting from their moms basement

  • once you find your little community of gamers that you can actually have fun with i encourage you to never interact with the broader community after that

This thread is really eye opening to how stupid gamergate is lol.

There have been plenty games about Samurai that have japanese people as the main character. One game with one Yasuke is somehow woke and evil.

  • Twicetagram

    assassins creed is trash franchise

Only one I haven’t like is brotherhood and revelations, otherwise all generally good games

    Black Flag still >>>>

If they had Yusuke in AC that’d be hard

Spirit gun a mf and hide in a bush

  • Go outside

  • Yall ever see the YouTube video of the dork who went to Japan and asked a bunch of locals if they gave a s*** about this looking for a gotcha for the DEI obsessed weirdos

He didn’t find a single person who cared, only locals who thought it was cool/ admitted they didn’t know s*** about Japanese history. Then he had to interview his camera man who was translating for him just to get one opinion on his side lmao

  • people who don't want black characters in media are racist. cut and dry, racists. calling something woke for having a minority or a woman in it pisses me off so much
