Everyone rightfully says that IGOR is Tyler’s best album, and talks about the tracks they love from it, but I feel like with so many future classics like EARFQUAKE and NEW MAGIC WAND flying around, people easily forget the mellow, somewhat laid back, but emotionally drained burnout anthem I DON’T LOVE YOU ANYMORE.
I think this is because its production is more minimalistic and less insane, but with what IS going on, everything comes together very nicely and really captures the feeling of when you’re so emotionally exhausted you almost don’t even have the energy to care about something anymore. So you just say “I don’t love you anymore” defiantly, even if it’s not quite true, and convince yourself that it’s over and that’s a good thing, because you can’t handle any more drama.
Add the gorgeous backing vocals, I believe from Solange, and a perfectly understated and quiet lil verse from Tyler, and the song, like what came before and after it, is a masterpiece.
I love this song, even though I used to overlook it too, and I think Tyler fans who don’t often think of it should give it a listen with fresh ears to appreciate it.

It’s dope but the most unfinished/unrealized song on Igor and maybe in Tyler’s recent catalog

There was supposed to be a second verse but it was cut for some reason, it always felt very empty to me how it’s just one verse then hook then it just kinda rambles on, not very satisfying in that way

    Still amazing beat and concept

Interesting, I didn’t know that about the second verse. Wonder what it would have been about.
I also wonder why Tyler put it out if it wasn’t necessarily where he initially wanted it.
So much of New Tyler’s catalog is characterized by extreme thought and polish to me, so it is extra surprising to hear that the song was originally very different.
Maybe he had a deadline looming over him?

The market for this album is non black hipsters and music journalists. S*** was good for a couple weeks but nobody riding around to this from the culture.

I don’t wanna say it’s not where Tyler wanted it necessarily, I’m sure in his eyes it was completed and he filled out the structure enough but I personally felt like it needed a second verse.

There was an IG live where he raps about John McCain on a second verse but I also just remembered I think that was a reference to another song and I’m not sure if it was ever actually supposed to be on there. But still for my taste I would’ve liked the song to “go somewhere” a bit more

That’s fair. I think my biggest problem with it is that it is a bit static compared to the rest of the album and ends quickly before “going somewhere” too, it just doesn’t bother me that much, because I like what is there a lot

Yeah it’s still amazing don’t get me wrong. But yes maybe the most static joint on there, could be part of why it’s somewhat “underrated”

    For sure.
Honestly though, while it’s static-ness isn’t the best music composition wise, it kinda fits the theme of the song, like on a meta level. Like T is so f***ing burned out he can’t even be bothered to do crazy chord s*** on this one.
I think I still would have preferred that crazy chord s***, but this is probably the best song to be the static one if one of them had to be

I don’t think anyone s***s on it, but I never hear it talked about either, which underrated it in my humble opinion, since I think it deserves discussion
